What do Braxton Hicks contractions really feel like?

I've been having little twinges ever since a fall yesterday, but am not sure if it's Mini-Munchkin stretching, a bit of bruising from the fall or BH...

Any "old hands" at pregnancy who can advise a newbie on what BH feel like to put my mind at rest? I'm 23+2 today...

Thanks & Merry Christmas!

What sort of fall did you have? Is baby moving ok?

Mine always felt like my bump was sort of contracting (which it was) but they weren't painful and when you touched it it felt rock hard.

Have you spoken to your MW?? You really should and even perhaps gp in to be checked over if you have fallen.

Mine weren't sore, but a very odd sensation, as if there was suddenly a rock in there. The bump also went hard.

Def. go and get it checked - you could have just sprained some ligaments, but best to get some advice. Phone the maternity unit if you can't get hold of your midwife, but def. do it.

i think that you should call your MW and get checked out if you had a fall and have been having twinges. better to be safe than sorry, n o doubt it is nothing serious, but you should be checked out

Thanks ladies... it wasn't a bad fall, it's such a silly thing...

We have bought a new blow-up mattress for the in-laws to sleep on when they come stay the night next week, and DH and I thought we'd try it out last night... We were watching TV and cuddling and DH got up to make me a cup of hot choc when the mattress threw me off! I don't think we pumped it up enough because it was like a trampoline... as the weight distribution shifted onto solely my side, it was like a tsunami wave that pushed me up and over! Anyway, I landed bump first on DH's elbow (pointy side in - poor bloke felt soooo bad even though it wasn't his fault!) but mini-munchkin seems to be fine... she was kicking like crazy all night as per usual and has been quite active today as well.

What I'm feeling is more of a tightening sensation on the one side - where the elbow went in, that's why i felt it might be fall-related - it's not sore, just feels different to the usual twinges!

TBH, I'm not even sure what number to ring the MW on as I've never met her... all my care has been handled by the hospital so far even though we do apparently fall under a local midwife! Should I call my GP then?

Why don't you just call the hospital where your care has been handled - probably more useful than a GP! But if you don't have a number for them, then GP would be good too - but sounds like worth getting checked definitely..... BH for me - same as others, whole bump just goes rock hard - not painful, just a bit bizarre!

I'd call the labou ward or something, they can transfer you to maternity triage or day assessment unit? Do you have those numbers in your maternity notes?

Mine feel like "inflating" period pains. A bizarre (and not particularly helpful) description but alas, tis the best I can do. I feel as though my uterus is being bicycle pumped during a menstrual twinge.
