Self sweep - anyone done this?

Just been to the midwives at 39 weeks tomorrow and she was a complete ARSE

I was told last week at 38 weeks that she may do one next week (today) but was different midwife.

Firstly they said last week I had a UTI and put me on anti-biotics... she rang and I haven't got one

There was still some traces of protein in my wee and we agreed it was thrush, Ive had this a while.

But then when I asked for a sweep she said she would, but then she rang someone else who said not till 40 weeks.

Theres a weeks difference between my EDD and my original EDD,

by my original 'wheel - 28 day cycle one' im 40 weeks tomorrow, she said they go by that ... until she realised this put me at 40 weeks and meant I could have a sweep then she changed it to the scan one - 39 weeks

She then decided that my thrush could be Strep B and started on about my homebirth.

Im really pissed off and been having pains for ages.

Want DH to do a sweep

Anyone know how??

That's a bit of a jump from thrush to Strep-B isn't it?

Have a root round yourself with a clean hand (well finger actually!) and if you can get up high enough you will feel the opening to your cervix. I'm sure that the cervix is round a corner, but only when it'e not efaced (stretched and ready to go) so it can be tricky to locate.

Have sex with your husband and get him to be extra pokey, it worked for me

don;t let your DH do it please

best for you to do it, if you are going to do it yourself, you can judge and feel yourself and be gentler

your baby will come when it is ready and if you are only just 40 weeks, then leave it for now

i know you are cross and wnat this baby out,but you just need a wee bit more patience

if you are having pains, sex and nipple stim might help, but ultimately baby will come out when ready

don;t start faffing too much and alos, bear in mind if you have a sweep and your waters get broken, you are on a countdown and your HB could be out of the window

leave well alone for now if oyu can bear it

Lulu, I would rather go in hospital tonight than wait a week and have the baby at home.

Thats how fed up I am

We can't have sex either, that worked for me last time but I've had thrush nd been using canesten and just found out that DH is allergic to canestan! So can't have sex without a condom, but he is too sore for it

For ages? The midwife didn't do it for ages last time.

Its so frustrating, Ive been having pains at night for 2 weeks, they thought it was the UTI but I haven't got one so something must be going on!

Even if she didn't want to sweep me I would have like to know how things are up there.

DH did try to do one... been having pains, but died down now, also went for a long walk.

Off to have a clary sage bath and a cup of RL tea.

I'd be going insane if I was you! I'd just ask DH to have a good poke around, I'm sure my friend said that the midwife just gave her cervix a 'twiddle' and she went in to labour about 3 hours later. I'd say it's worth a try.

I slept like a baby for the first time in about 3 months last night so feel FAB and am reay to get this thing going!! lol
