Slight bleeding in pregnancy - reassurance please

Last week I had a slight bleed (29weeks), and spent 24 hours in hospital where they could find nothing wrong (they checked position of placenta etc). They told me to take it easy for a week.

I am now completely paranoid that it will happen again, and they'll keep me in for weeks on end (away from DS - and DH). It's difficult to "take it easy" with a 2yo, and working part time.

How common is it to have bleeding at this stage in pregnancy, and if you have experienced this, does it automatically mean problems for the rest of the pregnancy?

Any advice welcome.

I had a slight bleed at 28 weeks. They didn't keep me in (I think cos it was Friday!!) and never found a reason for it. They said that they never found an explanation for 25% of them. It never happened again. I don't think they would keep you in without a very, very good reason. They don't have the resources. And they couldn't force you to stay anyway. Try not to worry its probably a one off.

Oh and they kept asking me if I'd had sex recently as that is often the culprit. My dh was away at the time so that was not the cause for me. Did they ask you?

I had the smallest bleed ever at 27 weeks and phoned the hospital in a complete panic. DH had just driven for 75 minutes to get to work and had to drive straight back.

Was checked out and the doc couldn't see where the blood had come from. He turned down my request to deliver the baby and I had her naturally at 40+6. There were a couple of hiccups but nothing at all to do with the tiny bleed.

They did ask me if it might be due to sex - which it wasn't. The bleed was only small, and I've had a couple of tiny twinges and remnants of "old blood" since (sorry - TMI).

Just hoping like hell it was a one-off. I'm a great one for swinging between the "everything is fine" and "oh no, it's going to be a disaster". In fact the biggest risk is that as a result of these swings DH will throttle me!
