Hiya,

Right at 37 weeks baby was 3/5 into the pelvis, wasn't too excited as it doesn't mean anything.

I started having pains, more than braxton hicks about 4 days ago, the babys head felt REALLY low and was finding it difficult to walk or sit.

Yesterday I went shopping and felt like baby was gonna drop out, was saying 'shit, shit' at the checkout

The midwife was at the sure start centre so I went to see her.

She examined me and said baby is fully engaged, she said she couldn't feel the head hardly at all it was so far in. I then got a tightening whilst on th bed and she felt it before i mentioned it.

But then she tested me wee and said there were traces of protien and something else says 'leut' ??! on notes in my wee so said i may have water infection.

So she then writes everything off and blames these 'traces' on all thats going on.

Surely if it were a UTI causing all these pains there would be more than a 'trace'?

Anyway am on anti-biotics now, but still having pains.

Bbay is sooooo far down and am spending the evenings squatting on the loo feeling like waters are going to go, and just wandering around.

What do you think?

She wouldn't do an internal to see if anything was going on

It can get like this and can seem to be a such a long waiting game. The little niggles are a good sign your uterus is getting ready. If you are ready for baby to come sometimes it can be state of mind. Just keep telling your baby it is safe to come now, lots of nipple stimulation and you never know things may happen.

Hope things start for you soon.

Just wondering if you got my email about the wraps? (I think you're the right person!)

HI, just thought I would let you know I was told the same thing because of a urine infection that I was having the pains and they took gas and air away from me and said I wasn't in labour. However 4 hours later I was 8cm dilated and gave birth an hour later. So just because you have an infection doesn't mean you won't have the baby. hope this helps!

Oh poor you with a UTI. I think the MW was wise not to examine you though - if you already have infection you don't need the risk of further germs up there. Plus with a second baby your cervic is often ready to go for a lot longer than with a first baby, so you can wander round 3 or 4cm dilated for a week or more...so it doesn't necessarily tell you anything about when labour will be.

I feel just the same as you, loads of niggles, loads of discomfort. It is rubbish. But it won't be long now

Nothing practical to add lovely - except hoping it gets better. They can bounce in and out of the pelvis second time round, so head may come back up for a bit and give you a bit of relief before DDay.

Take it as easy as you can.

Leut - maybe leuc? For leucocytes, a sign of UTI. They are a white cell by product and suggest inflamation/germ fighting going on. So you may have something on the brew.

AND Maybe tonight is your night!!??
