Carpal tunnel pain keeping me awake at night - is there anything I can do?

My right hand and elbow goes numb and becomes painful waking me up several times a night. I'm fine during the day, probably because I'm a SAHM therefore not having to be on a computer all day. Should I go to the GP for a splint? I've read propping your arm up on the pillow can relieve it but a bit difficult to do if you can't sleep on your back.

I had exactly this, fine during the day but agony during the night so big sympathies. I went to the GP who was unhelpful and said it would go after I had my baby (which it did but that didn't help much wih months to go). I bought a couple of wrist supports on Ebay and they helped a great deal.
I still have the wrist supports somewhere but we have had to move out of our house for a while because of building work so have no idea where they are, otherwise I'd happily send you mine!

I had (still do) it after DS2 was born and mentioned it at my 6 week check with my GP. He referred me to a physio who gave me the splints and gave me some exercises to do as well.

Don't go spending money when you don't have to - you've paid your stamp!

Poor you though - it is really uncomfortable.

Splints helped me a lot (I got CTS 6 weeks after DS was born) - not that comfy to wear but a lot less uncomfy than the CTS. Ultimately I had surgery on both wrists - not at the same time I hasten to add!! - that seems to have solved the problem once and for all.

Get splints from the GP. I needed them for several months during both pregnancies and they were great. Don't leave it untreated as Carpal Tunnel can become chronic and severe if you are unlucky. (A friend of mine ignored it and ended up with nerve damage)
