IT sounds like you have hyperemesis gravidarum sweety (join the club I'm 8 weeks with HG too ).... The support site for HG is here look through the syptoms, get to your doctors, tell them exactly what's going on and they'll either prescribe you some anti emetic pills (to stop you puking) or they'll say you can't have them until you're 12 weeks and they'll prescribe you dioralyte or a form of rehydration powder (if you're finding it hard to drink too)..... best of luck!! I hope it passes quickly, sometimes it does!

I had this...

the main thing to remember is that you baby will be fine!

I found that sipping ice cold water or sucking ice cubes helped. I also found that apple and mango juice stayed down for some reason! I took anti-emetic pills a couple of times when I couldn't keep anything down for many hours.

I ended up at 38 weeks lighter than I had been when I conceived. I lived on ice cream (in small quantities) and mashed potato for most of the pregnancy. My dd was a good weight and perfectly healthy

My DS was quite small but healthy too, he had some unrelated kidney problems but that was nothing to do with my eating! I'm sure you're little one will be fine

I had HG, ice lollies were about all I could do to get fluids in me, and I didn't eat much at all. Luckily babies suck all the goodness out of you so that they stay strong while you feel like poo!!!

I lost about a stone, but DD was a very healthy 8lb 5oz.

another HG sufferer, i went to the GP after throwing up constantly for two weeks inc water!! she kindly gave me some tablets which stoped me being sick but made me very sleepy!! took them until about 18 weeks and am now 28 weeks PG, not been sick since thankfully.

The tablets took about a week to kick in fully was still throwing up for the first few days but once they were in my system i felt loads better, still wasn't eating much but at least it was something.

Hey FS...they put me on dehydration powder lol which I can't drink cos it makes me vomit! I'm doing ok, lost about 7 pounds at 8 weeks pregnant but I'm managing small amounts of toast/soup so I'll be ok .....Sam with my last pregnancy the symptoms lasted 6 months, but they're all different! It could stop at 12 weeks for all anybody knows ...

They're going to prescribe me the pills at my 12 week appointment... sure they're the same ones I had last time but they strangely put me to sleep?? Can't be having that with 1 yr old DS!

Hope you feel better soon Sam

Oooops katzguk completely missed your message! We must have had the same tablets! Phenagarm or gram or gran...or something?

Oooh, I had phenergan as a kid - meant to be for coughs or something, but always put me to sleep!!!

I had basic travel sickness type pills, but they made my mouth so dry that I still felt horrible

fastasleep · 14/03/2005 11:35

I only took 2 of my pills so there must have been something awful about them...as I was pretty desperate lol

Hi everyone.... sorry to hear all your terrible stories, am lucky not to have suffered like that, BUT a close friend had terrible HG for all 3 of her pregnancies, and she was very stoic about it for most of the time. HOWEVER, she found that visiting the homeopath during pg #2 (after vomiting EVERY DAY for 9 months of pg #1) at about 4-5 months, it stopped COMPELTELY. So perhaps a trip to the homeopath might be worth it? Sam116, you might have to wait until you get through your full 1st trimester though, not sure. Good luck everyone...

I had terrible morning afternoon and evening sickness from 6 to 17 weeks, at one point it was so bad that fish chunks flew out of my nose the thing that worked for me was to have lemon/lime cordial on hand to combat the dehydration and humbugs to keep my sugar levels up. the other tip is eat whatever you fancy at the time you fancy it, even if its a coconut at midnight!!!

ok not to totally depress u but im 36 weeks preg and i still have hg. i found none of the tablets helped nothing did until i was so thirsty i stole a drink of dp red bull it was amazing i actually felt ok for a few hours and manages to eat something and keep it down. i know red bull isnt exactly the best thing to have but imo it was better to have something than to have nothing at all. i still have 1 can a day and my baby is growing fine and hopefully will arive soon
