Have you tried having a bath? sometimes this can help.

I believe sex or an orgasm and nipple stimulation are the usual prescription in these circumstances.

Hopefully lulu or mars will be along soon.

Make sure you eat and drink well while you still can. You'll be meeting your baby very soon

Baths can slow things down if your less than 3 or 4 cm dilated...

Ohh. sorry. I thought it did both.

cant think why, but ever since i so kindly informed my dp that i had lost my plug (and had the ordasity to show him what it looked lik), he hasn't looked at me the same way, and i dont think sex or any form of simulation is on his mind. he looked rather ill lol
maybe i should try the sympathy vote.
i dont think i am very dilated at all, probably about 2cm or 1 knowing my luck!

It's OK for some labours and not for others, not a bad suggestion really

If the simply vote doesn't work you could always try some self help

Have you got a breast pump? That's fine for nipple stimulation, I believe.

how are you mum2bean?

Is this your first baby? If so, you could have a bit of a wait through the latent phase, (first stages)

A bath will slow down ctx in the very early stages, and if you are experiencing strong bh's, then a bath will stop them.

I would recommend paracetamol and another bath if you are uncomfortable.

I know you are keen to meet your baby but that may just give you a couple of hours sleep so that you have plenty of energy for the hard part of labour. (ie anything after the latent stage)

Nipple stim can work, use a pump as it's less tiring. Yu do have to do it for a good ten mns each side, on and off.

When is your baby actually due? When the mucous plug comes away, labour can still be days, (sometimes week or so for 1st)away.

let us know how you get on. Good luck.

Oh yes, eat, drink and wee.

sorry DeJaVousdoo, went to the hospital and i am in the latent stages of labor and my plug has come away, but no waters as of yet, and no regular strong contractions, but i am dilated!!!! only 3 cm, but it's that bit closer!!!
she's due on the 2nd november, so hopefully she'll either be born on that day or, if i have my way, halloween

I'm glad to hear all is well! 3 cm is a good start!

Just make sure you get loads of rest in the coming days, you'll be glad of it when the baby is here

Here's to an easy, relaxed birth and a chilled baby! Good luck for when your time comes.

thanks! i am semi-resting, i keep getting the urge to tidy up things that are already clean, and to sort my baby clothes into a certain order! but other than that, it's takeaways, eastenders and chic flicks lol.

Oh yeah, the nesting drive! Practically irresistible isn't it, I remember it all to well

sounds like labour might well be happening sooner rather than later...

it is so hard not to do it, especially once you get the idea into your head about how you want everything to look!
i hope so, i am dying to meet my little girl, and to show her how tidy the house is lol

'tis a totally understandable need, I think it's important too. Psychological preparation and all that

Nothing wrong with it unless you exhaust yourself IMO.

Try to rest up, mum2bean. Baby could come tomorrow about 4am or a week for now. Getting your rest is your top priority in meantime.

BTW, I Am very excited for you, but you aren't allowed to be feel excited, you have to be disciplined about getting rest and distracting yourself, not thinking about it, lol.

I seriously, if it were me, would have half a glass of wine and try to get some kip.

FROM now, not "for now" .

watch a laugh out loud movie cuddled up on sofa, (ok, preggers woman cuddled up size) with partner.

Body will increase endorphins, (feel good hormones) bit of smooching if you feel up to it.

3cms at this stage is good for 1st baby. I'm guessing baby will be here in next day or so.

Latent phase can be quite tiring, snooze whenever possible, eat well, (slow release carbs, porridge).

good luck.

i am trying sooo hard not to get too excited, but i have just raided the xmas box and all of her baby clothes just to put them back again and have re-packed my maternity bag to top items are used first!!!
i am driving my partner nuts by doing this, but am going to have a bath while i have long periods between my contractions, stick on a funny chick flick and probably fall asleep.
thanks for all the support and tips though

Did you phone hospital about the show? Usually they like to check you over if you've had one.
