When did you first feel your baby kick? and what did it feel like?

I am 21 weeks and worried that I haven't felt the baby kick. I spend the whole time trying to work out whether it is or not, and so anything I feel in the stomach area I overanalyse but fear most of the time it's just wind or twinges with no rhyme and reason. Have my scan on Sat but really worried that there is something wrong.

With my first baby about 19 weeks, it felt like bubbles popping. Didn't feel any definite kicks for a few more weeks. Don't worry!

don't worry
I didn't feel anything until about 24 weeks
it's like butterflies
with my 2nd i felt it much early so the flutterings you feel will be your baby
congratulations by the way

Around 16 weeks and it felt like somebody was prodding me with the sharp end of a pencil from the inside.
I remember my Mum expressed disbelief when I told her baby kicked so I imagine 16 weeks is very early.

Don't worry

I've got these kind of weird deep inside feelings - someone on here said 'like a goldfish swimming' - I think it's like a goldfish swimming through jelly

I've not felt it kick but I'm only 18 wks - my collegue said she was 21 wks, nothing at all before, and now it doesnt stop!

When you lie in bed at night close your eyes and then do 2 or 3 little sit up movements - you feel like a moron but a minute or so later I can something down there. No idea if its the baby though tbh as its my first...

My first i felt at about 18 weeks and it was like bubble on the inside for ages then prods about 21 weeks.

This time i am almost 17 weeks and got a proper prod yesterday, it seems very early but i am not complaining

Mirry does it say on your 12 wek scan report where your placenta is as if its posterier ( on the back ) you will feel a lot more then you would if it was anterior (on the front)

I felt butterflies as 16 weeks and then a full on kick at 22 weeks. i lay on my side and i felt a definate poke. I was texting all my mates with kids at 21 weeks saying ive not felt it! it soon starts up dont worry. my placenta is across the front so i didnt feel the kicks until late 22 weeks so you may be the same?

When it does kick or move, to me it feels like the pressure you get before a burp. You know when you drink a can of coke and you can feel a big burp coming, i get a similar sensation and then i know some kicks are coming! Im 35 weeks now and believe me, its no fun when its got its knees sticking out and it takes your breath away.

When i had my scan they put the report in the back of my notes. It doesnt say much on it really just where the placenta is, if the Hb was present and my revised EDD.

17 weeks. It feels like wind bubbles.

First baby I thought I could feel it at about 18 weeks, but could only definitely feel movement from about 20 weeks onwards. With this pregnancy, it was about 20 weeks.

It's usual not to feel movement until 20-22 weeks (especially with your first pregnancy), and even then, for it to only be very slight flutterings, a bit like wind.

I'm 13 weeks and I'm sure I can feel it now but this is my third pregnancy and I am very slim. The other two pregnancies it was 16 weeks.

Hi All,

I have posted this as a new thread but no answers do any of you ladies have any idea on the below? (I dont think i have joined the correct discussions but could do with some advise) x

I had a bleed, shorter then a normal period and not quite as heavy but on the day I was due my AF 32 days. (can be anything from 28 to 32) This stopped after two days. Then 5 days later I had very slight spotting not a lot at all and only visible after wiping. So I took a pregnant test that showed up positive at 11:00am. Then I took the second one at 4pm that was also positive. Then I went and brought two digital ones and did one the next morning that said not pregnant. Then did the second one at 6pm and it said pregnant 1-2 weeks.

I booked a Drs appointment for the next day (Friday) and took a sample of my morning urine this also came up negative. I waited to the Sunday and bought one more which i took at 11:00am and again this came up negative.

What do you think is going on? I thought if I had miscarried I would have had a bleed after the positive test but haven't. The Dr was really un helpful and said try again in a week or wait for your next period.

What I was thinking is that I was pregnant but then had a 'chemical pregnancy' but still confused to why a got a positive 9 days after I had the short bleed.

xx

Sorry can't help as I don't know about chemical pregnancies, but you might get more response if you start a thread with a question as the title - people will only look here if they are looking for kick info!
Good luck tho - x

hiya, I am 21 weeks with my third and only just started to feel a slight prod every so often - usually when i bend to quick or in an odd direction. I was told at 20 wk scan my placenta is right at the front so covering my tummy button hence the delay in feeling much - i still only feel proper prods low down or high up, so round the edges of the placenta.

I'm 16 now and last week, I felt very light movement in there once- it felt like something was moving and brushed my inside (sorry rubbish description but i can't think of anythign better) and then 2 days ago, i felt something a bit more abrupt- not painful just another 'brush'. Both times i was lying on my right side.
I'm so looking forward to when i won't have to wait ages & try different positions to make him/her kick.

Ginni · 15/10/2008 11:26

I only felt my little girl at 25 weeks - turned out my placental position was cushioning it. I'm 28 weeks now and I can really, really feel her moving all the time which is fantastic! I do feel for you Mirry71 as I was also worried something bad had happened. Have you thought about getting a doppler - I got one for about £20, the Angelsounds one - they sell it on Amazon - which gave me a lot of reassurance. I rarely feel the need to use it now though as I know she is ok.

CatIsSleepy · 15/10/2008 11:30

it obviously varies alot!
this time i started feeling the baby at 15-16 weeks
it's very subtle at first, almost like a little bubble bursting inside (and thus easily confused with the workings of your digestive system at first )
now at 18 weeks and it feels like the occasional soft little poke, but getting sharper all the time-dh can feel it now too

also get the occasional odd feeling like I'm going down too fast in a lift-the baby turning over perhaps?

my friend said he hardly felt her first baby kick at all-i put it down to her stomach muscles of steel- not something I'm blessed with obviously

Stomach muscles of steel - if only!

Worzelsmummage I've looked at my scan notes and I don't think they put it on. Was so busy feeling relieved about heartbeat etc never thought to ask!

If your scan is on Saturday I wouldn't worry. I didn't feel anything 'til 21 weeks but when I did feel it (all the way home on the bus ) I realised that actually I'd felt that feeling for ages but had been so anxiously wanting to feel something I'd somehow missed it... if that makes sense.
