16 weeks pregnant but feeling not so pregnant now

Probably first time pregnant mum being paranoid but I can't help feeling that the whole second trimester thing about blooming and honeymoon is more worrying than the first!! I had pretty common symptons right up to 14 weeks and then nothing, no bump to show off yet, no more sickness, not so tired now, and generally feeling over weight and not much else! I wish they scanned at 18 weeks to help that long gap between the two standard scans to give you some reassurance. Haven't felt anything yet, is it too early for that???

I remember feeling exactly like that once I'd got over the euphoria of no longer feeling sick! The wait between the two scans feels really long doesn't it.

I don't think I felt any movement until around 19/20 weeks so try not to panic. I know that's not much help, but I just wanted you to know that you're not alone.
Good luck!

Don't worry - just make the most of feeling good. And do anything you want/need to do that requires you to be able to see your feet/fly/walk any distance without immediate access to a toilet . I didn't feel anything till about 20 weeks in my first pg, and even then couldn't be sure it wasn't wind.....

I'm sure it's all okay littlebok, i felt like that with dd. However, if you are worried, contact your midwife, that's what she's there for and she may arrange a scan to put your mind at rest.
Not feeling movment until later is perfectly normal.
Try not to worry too much

I'm 16 weeks into my second (well, third as had mc first time) and I am feeling exactly the same!

I obviously can't remember as clearly as I thought I would what it was like last time, but I'm worry that my clothes aren't tight yet. I worried the whole way through with DD, so I suppose having the worry kick in now shouldn't surprise me....

Sorry that's not much help, just wanted to let you know the paranoia isn't just a first time thing!

if your feeling really worried contact your midwife and get her to have a listen for the babys heartbeat.

it can be a long time between appointments, but they are there for reasurance and i'm sure they wouldn't mnd at all. and if they do well arse to them.

i'm 17wks with 3rd and had bloods yesterday and a little listen which is reasuring. i think if you feel really ill in the first trimester and then better in the second you do start to feel really paranoid.

give them a phone and get them to squeeze you in at the end.

Thank you to you all for taking the time to write back, that was my first mumsnet message after a friend recommended I try the site, and you have all made me feel a lot better. I guess first time pregnancy will be a worry for the whole 40 weeks and then the next 18years!! As much as I love my other half, his repeated line of 'oh i'm sure you're fine' was starting to really hack me off!! Will keep reading the blog from now on and will warn the girls at work that this site is my new screen saver!

Hi Littlebok - I am 16 weeks and thinking just the same thing!

I bought maternity trousers because I do have a bit of a bump and none of my work trousers fit me but today they seem really loose and I feel far too 'well' for my liking...

Im sure its all ok though, and we should just be enjoying not feeling so crap after all these weeks.

Also, I bought an Angelsounds doppler from Ebay which cost about ÂŁ30 and you can listen to the heartbeat yourself which i find really reassuring to do every now and again. It can be tricky to find though as the baby is so small at the moment so I would advise using them with caution...

Hiya

I'm feeling the same. I'm 15 weeks and from week 6 to 11 was realy struggling with sickness, headaches and generally feeling pretty sh*t, which was awful but at the same time was reasurring as everyone tells you it's normal and a sign of a strong pregnancy etc etc. Then from week 11 I've started to gradually feel better and better. But the last week I've felt so anxious for the same reasons. I've got a midwifes app. next week so I'm trying to hang on until then and can listen to the heartbeat.

But I agree with the other posts in that if you feel so worried you can see your midwife or at least give her a call and explain how your feeling. That's what their there for.

Hi everyone, just to let you know that I did see the midwife last night at a routine doctors appointment as she was there and she very kindly did the old heart monitor thingy and there it was beating away loudly and proudly!! I had got quite anxious just feeling so normal, she said I wasn't the first and I won't be the last to ask her to do it, but I have to say that it now makes me feel that I can go through to November when we have the 20 week scan without wondering what is going on in there....! as for clothing, everything is too tight, what made me think this morning that I would get in to my size 10 tights was beyond me, I went straight to Tesco and bought a size large!!

I feel the same as you LittleBok! I'm 16 weeks and feeling a tiny bit pudgy, but that's it. I have a 10 week gap between my first scan and my anomaly scan, which feels enormous, and my hospital doesn't see us around the 16 week mark. Sometimes I forget I'm pregnant!

It's so silly that feeling well can be a source of worry in itself(!)

Hi there; I felt the same way when I was 13 weeks PG. I did not have much morning sickness anyway, so my PG symptoms were tiredness, aching boobs and some pain in the tummy ( stretching ligaments). When I hit 13 weeks, it was like I was not PG at all, which got me very worried. Silly me, I started to research "silent mc" etc. The only thing that helped me: I ordered fetal doppler, the thing that allows you to hear baby's heart beat, and it totally calmed me down. Whenever I needed reassurance, I checked for my baby's heartbeat and felt better (once a week). Just remember to do it on the full bladder otherwise you may not find it.
Now I am 21 weeks PG; just got back from my scan today and everything is fine!! No need for doppler, i can feel baby kicking all the time.
So get a doppler if you are worried; it helps!
good luck anyway x

I went through this as well from 16 weeks to 19 weeks. I had horrible nausea from week 5 to 15 then it went and I had no symptoms. At 19 weeks he started kicking, now at 23 weeks he is thumping.

Heh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Now that the queasy feelings have gone but it's too early to feel anything, I've been in a weird sort of in-between state, with no real 'evidence' that I'm pregnant. (I have a tiny bit of a bump, but it's mostly biscuit-related...) Maybe it's because we're given so much to worry about (screening results! don't drink too much caffeine! no salami for you! exercise, but not too much!) that when there's nothing to worry about our brains try to invent things so that the 'normal' level of worry is the same.

Hello everyone. I am feeling similar too. I am not feeling so sick anymore. I have a big belly and I am knackered but because it's been so long since the 12 week scan I am feeling worried and paranoid. Hence why I have booked a private scan for Saturday, it's ÂŁ55 but worth it to hopefully see the baby again. I have not felt any flutters yet (I am 16.2 days), I can't wait for that! I have been told it feels like butterflies in your tummy or another person said it felt like wind Grin

Hi everyone. I feel exactly the same. All my sickness has stopped now and I don't feel anything. I have recently got a stuff nose which is making me feel a little short of breath. I'm 16 + 3 so it's a bit early for feeling movement and I'm not really showing yet. I feel very much in limbo. I keep worrying about if something has happened and I don't know. Would I feel different if something had happened? I have to wait till the 6th Nov for my midwife appointment and the 24th Nov for my 20 week scan.
