Pregnancy

Do I need a midwife or a psychiatrist??

I am obsessed with using pregnancy tests (every day for over a week now. I am on CD29 today but I'm not sure how long cycles are as this is 1st month of trying. No sign at all of af yet and I have been nauseous for days, worse in the morning, swollen sore tummy, hot at night, lots of toilet trips.

I have even tried the clear blue (from 4 days early) and the 1st response which says from 6 days early. Surely on CD29 these would show if I am pregnant - as I said, I don't know when af is due but I am sure I am not having 36 day+ cycles.

Please tell me I'm not alone in this and others have had a positive result after lots of -ve's. I know the only answer is to stop testing for a while but I'm not sure I have the willpower....Arrggghh.

So do I call the midwife or the shrink??

Impatience I guess. And because it took 12mths to concieve dd. Although only 2 (45 day post bfeeding) cycles for DS. Also still bfeeding ds morning and evening and concerned this wll prevent me conceiving.ly

good god women! you need to chilax otherwise others will be calling the shrink for you!

FWIW I'm under the impression Breast feeding doesn't inhibit your ability to conceive. Might be wrong though. Good luck!

I took 9 tests weeks ago. One showed up a very faint line and the others didn't. I put it to the back of my mind as i too thought i was going crazy. I ended up going to the docs complaining of being overly tired and having a sore, very swollen tummy. Doc ran a test and i was pregnant! This was about 2 weeks after the negative ones. Wait a little while longer and take a test again. Could just be that your HCG levels are still quite low which seemed to have been the case with me.

Thankyou - I know the score really (have done this twice before ffs!!) but I think I just need someone to shake me and something else to concentrate on!!

Doesn't help that DH is convinced I am pg and just about ready to announce it to the world due to my symptoms. I know I am going to feel irrationally guilty if I'm not.

I did 5 tests, got 2 -ves, one that didn't work and 2 +ves (didn't believe the first one) - they were spread over about 10 days, and the first wasn't until I was a week late, so give it time - and good luck

if you are having long cycles then you are potentially driving yourself mad and wasting a lot of money

breastfeeding can be a contraceptive, if you are feeding exclusively, ie no other food or drink, and at around every 2 hours.. so if he is feeding twice a day only, it should not have too much of an impact.

maybe your test is negative because you aren;t pregnant?

you need to relax if this is only your first month of trying...

you are wasting money, why not put the money you would spend on tests away in a jar and treat yourself ot something with it?

I have a pile of cheap ebay tests that I have been using left from last pregnancy - it is only today I have bought any!

But you are right - i need to relax and concentrate on the gorgeous babies I have already got here and let number 3 declare itself when the time is right. You are also right that i may not be pregnant - I think half the issue is wondering whether sickness etc is real or psychosomatic!
