Anyone who has used 'alternative medicine' (reflexology etc) to bring on labour - come speak to me!

Hi, I'm contemplating shelling out on some sort of whacky alternative medicine to try and bring on labour, my EDD is today but I don't think she's coming out, I'm just not feeling it!

So - if you've had reflexology, some wonderful massage, that one with the pins (name eludes me at the moment) then please tell me what it was like, and whether it worked!

Thanks ladies. x

My friend swears that with both her pregnancies a session of acupuncture brought on labour. Not so sure myself, but she swears by it...

Accupuncture, that's the word I was looking for!

I am wondering with these things whether I'd need to find someone who works specifically with pg women or whether they all have the skills ....

I went for several reflexology sessions. They didn't work.

I tried accupuncture but alas it didn't work. I suspect it's like sweeps - if you are ready, they just might tip you over but otherwise, nowt.

Reflexology is meant to help - if nothing else its a very relaxing way to wile away the time. Perhaps thats why it works for some people.

Ok thanks ladies, I'm not sure whether to go for it or not, it seems quite expensive.

Hi lollipop

I was due 30th august and had reflexology on monday (1st sept) and accupunture session this morning so will see what happens. But still here none the less and nothing as yet I think beansprout is right and if your ready it might help but otherwise maybe not. Must say just want baby to be here now - so have tried everything with sweeps coming up from tomorrow

I have gone for it and booked a reflexology appointment, got to be in it to win it! I have a sweep on Tues too if it doesn't work, but hopefully it will do - Positive Mental Attitude and all that!

I had reflexology a few times in the last months. DD arrived day before EDD (but obviously no idea whether reflexology had anything to do with it)

If nothing else - its a lovely foot massage. Much more enjoyable than getting pins stuck in you
