I am planning to give birth at Watford general with having epidural. Any feedback from past experience like : do they top up if it is needed, do they forget about you and leave you alone scared or they re good?

Have given birth several times at Watford! Medical side I thought was very good - all the drs and midwives I've come across busy but pleasant - but they are pushed for staff and it can be difficult if you happen to arrive at a busy time. I'm high risk so have always been well looked after, but I can well imagine other people may have had a different experience. Midwife-led birth centre has a pretty good name.

First time round was nearly 7 years ago - incredibly dirty. Last time I was back there the cleanliness was massively improved.

Sorry no experience of epidurals but I believe they offer mobile ones and I was certainly offered pain relief if I'd wanted it.

I had dd1 in 1999 and dd2 in 2001 at WGH. Medically, excellent care-dd1 was very poorly and in SCBU-midwife was very on the ball and probably saved her life. Post-natal was not good and I was in for 6 days. dd2 was born in the birth centre, again very good care and went home after 6 hrs.

My friend has both her babies at Watford. Both water births. The last one was born in March. She was really pleased with them but didnt have time to get an epidural either time as they both happened so quickly!

my friend had a choice between watford and somewhere else that had a better reputation.
she chose the other one contracted Strep A infection whilst there and finally ended up at Watford general for 13 days.. They were fabulous, it was clean. She was very well cared for. Planning baby 2 she will choose watford. Good luck
