they can manually turn the baby - most hospitals can do this. I think about 40% effective.
You can have a natural delivery. Or a section.

was told today by consultant best time for elective is at 39wks but I'm not breach so you'd need to check with someone with more knowledge than me sorry!

I was told that I would be checked at 38 weeks. If still breech, I'd be referred for a scan to confirm. If defo breech a section would then be scheduled for me.

You can have breech babies naturally but from what I have been told you need specially trained midwives to support you and there are only a couple where I live covering a huge area so are usually only used for an emergency vaginal birth if breech isn't detected beforehand.

Is it your first baby, bigboy?

Would you want to have a breech vaginal?

i obviously just want to have a healthy baby at the end of the day so don't mind either way, but did have a bit of a traumatic birth with ds so would be happier with a ceseran in one way, so hopefully baby will stay breach.

My DD2 was breech at 34 weeks-and continued to be so until 38 then she turned (massive movement when i was in the bath).
The hosp scanned me regulary and was due to have c sec at 38-39 wks. They may offer for your baby to be turned manually in hosp at 38 wks if remains breech.

If you would only consider having a c-section with breech then that solves much of your dilemma. It seems like your main one is to decide whether you want to have an ECV or not.

Are the problems that led to your traumatic delivery likely to be repeated? If your baby were cephalic, do you think a good management of your labour would avoid the problems you encountered before?

sounds painful MB, but so is labour so in the scheme of things perhaps not that bad.

I know you can't plan too much ST, but was quite hopeful of having an epidural next time if i could or if it was too late a water birth.

Basically ds was born quite quickly, i only had g&a, asked for an epidural but was too late. ds was delivered by forceps after failed ventouse, with an episotomy. ds was 3 weeks early

If you have a vaginal breech, you should not have any intervention at all. You have to let it go at its own pace. Not all breech babies can be birthed naturally and have to go to C-section. If your labour stops it is probably because the baby is in the group that need to have a C-section (eg cross-legged). The last thing you want to do is accelerate a slow or stalled labour as you can trap the baby's chin on your pubic bone.

You could have a trial of labour and if it progresses, great. If not, then you go for a C.

With my breech, that was what I wanted. I kept it secret from my midwife (I did not consent to examinations), so it would have meant a mad dash to theatre. However, DD virtually fell out. She was frank breech (basically folded over), and a bottom isn't really any bigger than a head.
