Persistant thrush?

Am a regular but namechanged for this so I can look you all in the eye elsewhere.

I'm quite prone to thrush at the best of times, but seems like whilst I've been pregnant this time it's been around more than not. It goes away when I get treated for it, but only for a week or so and then it comes back.

It's really pissing me off and I feel rubbish having to keep goign back to the doctors with it. I try not to do all the things that cause it (wearing dodgy kncikers, tight trousers etc) but nothing helps.

Does pregnancy make it worse? Does anyone else get it so often? Is there anything else I can do to avoid it?

try eating fennel, chopped finely, raw, in salad. it won't do miracles, but will definately help over time. don't wash your hair in the bath, or sit in the soapy water for too long.
cut out sugar

Any problems with your blood sugar?

I get it very occasionally but got it loads last pregnancy in the last few weeks. I was eating loads of sugary stuff.

Might be a coincidence but this time my diet has been pretty perfect because my indigestion has been so bad and I haven't had thrush at all.

Thanks for the replies - I hadn't thought of the blood sugar thing. There's not a problem as such that I know of, but I have been caning ice lollies this week so maybe that hasn't helped! WIll cut down and see if it helps.

Try biofem active gel, it can be used to prevent thrush, its herbal, safe in pregnancy and is so good. Its been my life saver. I was sceptical (sp?) but its been fantastic. You can get in boots.

i am taking a probiotic (safe for pregnancy) and i think that's helping a lot, since the amount of sugar in my diet seems to have suddenly doubled. thrush is more common in pregnancy because the ph balance of the lady parts changes, apparently...

Have lots of prebiotic lacto bacto (!) natural yoghurts. Really works for me- you can add jam to make it more exciting or honey.

I too am plagued in pregnancy with the dreaded thrush. It is infuriarting and can be very painful.

I am eating no sugar (pregnancy sickness) and it is still awful! I will try the herbal stuff recommended further down thank you!

No advice to offer just full sympathy!
