Sore nipples at 17 weeks, really hurts, please advise!!

My breasts really ache and the nipples are huge and sore. The last few days they've been leaking milk (?), whitish/yellowy, thin, drops (sorry if TMI). If I wear a shirt or bra the nipple sticks to the shirt and it hurts to peel it off. They are so sensitive, even light brushes hurt. I've put Sudocrem on them but it doesn't stop hurting. I don't know how to remedy this. Can anyone of you please advise?

I've had this in all pregnancies... No real solution but Lanisoh did help - expensive but worth it and you don't need much. I also started using breastpads which protected a bit and were easier to 'peel' off.

If it helps - it does get better and the warmer weather seemed to help me too! And, it didn't stop my breastfeeding in case you're worried about that.

Good luck.

I remember it well! Luckily I'm still breastfeeding DD so the leaks get mopped up by an over-enthusiastic toddler. But I do remember how much it hurts when your nipples weld themselves to your bra and/or your shirt.

I always used to wet the clothes to get them off without peeling off skin as well as fabric.

Buy some reusable breastpads and smear your nipples with kamillosan (it will stain your bras which is why you need the breastpads).

In terms of tenderness, you can get silicon gel nipple pads from Boots which you stick in the fridge then stick in your bra. They really do take the sting out. But it will pass fairly soon anyway, it's just while your prolactin levels rise which takes a few weeks.

Oh, thank you for your help!! I was really surprised because I thought this only occurred when the baby is being breastfed.

Dp is in the UK at the moment and has been instructed to buy Lansinoh, Kamillosan and breastpads. (Fancy seeing him ordering that in Boots )
