Bugaboo or Quinny Buzz??

Hello, not sure if this is the right place to put this but dh and I are very indecisive and can't decide which buggy to buy - they both seem to have pros and cons. Would love comments from people who've got experience, positive or negative of either. Thanks so much xx

Buzz!!! I love mine. It's so nice to push and look at. It has the comfiest seat ever esp with the practically arctic footmuff it comes with and the carrycot and carseat to match are just as good. We bought the whole thing and both me and dp have never regretted it.

very now as I'm selling it as I'll need a double soon

Good luck deciding

Bugaboo for me. Daughter is 2 and still faces me and we talk constantly when going along (as I walk a lot). Great to push, looks good, basket takes loads. Handy for the odd time if you get a maxi-cosi cabrio to use as travel system.
Not ideal if you are always in and out of the car as the folding is a slight hassle but I am a walker so it doesn't bother me.
Can't wait to have #2 in the pram formation, change the fleecy fabric set to blue, and am getting a buggy board with ride-on seat for DD who is already thoroughly envious of her little friend's one!

Had a Bugaboo Gecko in green when DS1 born. Loved it - very easy to use - light etc and really liked the pram bit when he was born.

Now sold it (resale value very good by the way) as have DC2 on the way and have bought a Phil and Teds double (DS1 only 17 months so using buggy board all the time not practical).

However I am very very lucky because my mum has just bought me a Bugaboo Bee to use as a single buggy for when DH or I want to take either the newborn or our DS1 out separately (much lighter and less bulky than the Phil and Teds double). And it is lovely - lighter even than the Gecko, suitable for a newborn and a toddler (separately of course) and put up and downable in one step.

However I have never used a Quinny Buzz so cannot compare.

I had a Buzz and it was dreadful. Uncomfortable for LO. Badly made - so many bits broke or wore out. Soooo wide that you can't get it in any shops or doorways. Heavy. No storage. Crap brake. Rubbish.

Never had a Bugaboo, but friends have and they seem pretty good.

A lovely lady at work gave me her bugaboo frog last year and I love it. I have had dd in the seat unit and snuggly footmuff all winter (some people think the bugaboo seat is small, but dd still fits in at 3.10) and now it is set up in the pram mode awaiting a little one! I Have tried dd on the bugaboo buggyboard and it is fabulous, very roomy for her but doesn't get in the way when I walk. The basket is huge too. I think the best bit is that it can face both ways- when dd had chicken pox earlier this year I was s grateful I could have her snuggled up facing me, having a comfortable ride. That said, we don't drive, and the times I have taken it in a friends car have been a pain in the bum. But if you walk a lot then I would say go for it. Only experience of the buzz is that my friend had one and sold it after a few months and hated it.

My bugaboo frog is one of the best pushchairs I've ever tried. Never had a buzz though to compare. The Bugs are very well made and a dream to push.

oh great i wish i'd had this thread last week. Just bought a Quinny Zapp with a view to using the car seat on the frame for the first 6 months. Liked the look of the Bugaboo but dh said it was too expensive and shop woman said it wouldn't last as long.

Report
ruty · 23/04/2008 17:55

it is still in the box. wonder if i can change it?

Report
CarGirl · 23/04/2008 17:56

the car seat on the quinny zapp is very very very unstable I would never recommend it. Also the zapp pushchair doesn't recline which is a major flaw if it is your only pushchair.

honestly i would change it.
I have had a buzz and a bugaboo, theres no contest, bugaboo all the way. I have a bugaboo bee and its fab but would highly recomend frog/cam or gecko too. hehe can you tell im addicted?

ruty - tell your dh your happy to buy 2nd hand then the price gap won't be that big.

Report
ruty · 23/04/2008 18:01

right. thinking of changing it now. Have to face dh! It'll probably take ages to change it too. Does the bugaboo bee last into toddlerhood then?

Report
CarGirl · 23/04/2008 18:03

Yes the bee does last into toddlerhood but they are not really available 2nd hand.

A Mum at school hung her handbag on her zapp a few weeks ago and it toppled over and the baby hadn't been strapped into the car seat. There is absolutely not storage space on them.

my dp was won over by the bugaboo cameleon after 'test driving'... he thought it seemed much more sturdy and well-made than the buzz - and not as wide at the back.

we love the cam, feels really solid and safe - useful in the blurry early days when you steer into trees and walls (still doing that and babypudding now 14 weeks...)

also its not recommended to have bubs in a car seat all the time before 6 months i don't think - not flat enough

aaagh wrestling ds...

Report
ruty · 23/04/2008 18:37

yes i was a bit worried about car seat but we wouldn't have her in it for more than 2 hours at a time. Still not ideal, i wasn't too happy about it. Instability a worry.

i have a buzz and it looks lovely BUT is hideously wide and VERY heavy. i have also almost taken my fingers off in the pop up mechanism a couple of times

there is also very little room in the shopping basket

i have resisted buying a stroller for the moment, though, as DD seems to love it and looks very cosy and happy in there with her foot muff and the fab seatle to clip the car seat on in the early days

no experience of the bugaboo

Hi I had ordered the Buzz 4 as it seems a little more sturdy than the 3 wheeler, ive had a nightmare with choosing, as orginally ordered the buzz then thought it was too expensive so went for the cosatto mobi, however have changed back to the buzz, i think its such an expense you should have the one you want. The lady who deals with all the faults in the shop did say that she has not had one of the buzz 4 back, and there are 4 good reviews on Kiddicare, they also have the facility to watch the demonstrator showing you the benefits and how it folds etc. HTH

I love, love, love my buzz . it's the envy of my friends who all wish they'd bought it too. DS is lovely and snuggly in it, we had the pram top but he's grown out of that already (4.5 months) but can still face me and recline in pushchair bit. It's really easy to push, don't find it heavy at all and could put it together shortly after coming home from emergency c-section. i would recommend it to anyone.
