Hi Lulu and Mars (and any MW) I need your advice on something. I have notice this pm that I am a bit wet (sorry if TMI). I am 29 weeks pregnant. Just to give you a more precise idea, I am wearing pants and a pair of jeans and sitting on my birth ball. The "leak" seems to go through my pants and jeans and there is a little bit of fluid on the ball.

How do I know if it is waters or if I am peeing myself.

I am slightly worried as I did have a leak with my DD and went into prem labour at 32 weeks. Don't know what the chances are of it happening again or if I should worry.

No other "labour signs" (no lower back pains or anything. Just a few BH)

Just tried to call my midwife but because it is after 5 she is not picking up. Should I call labour ward or are they going to laugh in my face?

no they are not going to laugh in your face- ring labour ward and get yourself down there to be checked over.

Put a sanitary pad on now and call the labour ward.
They will want you to go in and be checked, if you can take in something (like your undies and a pad) they can normally tell if it's waters or urine.
Good Luck.

Please give the labour ward a ring now. My friend had premature rupture of the membranes (PROM) with her first baby (I think at about 26 weeks or so), everything was fine, she actually went overdue in the end, but she had to be CONSTANTLY monitored because of the risk of infection.

I hope you are on the phone now, they will take this seriously.

Thanks all for re-assuring me to call labour ward. I bit the bullet and called them. They didn't laugh in my face. They said to put a pad in for an hour and if it is damp I will have to go in and get monitored.

Don't know if I will be able to post again tonight because need to go and get DD from nursery and then look after her but will keep you posted tomorrow morning.

Please cross your fingers for me and hope that I have very lax pelvic floor muscles. I am sooo stressed I am shaking

hello ! just to calrify, am not a MW!

it could be

urine

discharge

or waters leaking

even if it is your waters, a leak rather than a huge gush means taht your waters have not broken, it is a leak, and could well reseal and your waters replensih until delivery

absolutely the right thing to get yourself checked out, let us know , when you can, how you are doin x

I know lulu, but you are very knowlegeable and wise and always give good advice.

Will keep you posted as and when I can.

Will try to relax and breath it is probably nothing and me panicking for nothing but considering past experience I can't help it.

Hi all

I am back with baby safely tucked where it should be [emoticon breathing a massive massive sight of relief].

I called labour ward last at 7.30pm last night and they said come in anyway. They monitored me for about two hours and I was then examined by two different doctors who did loads of swabs etc..But at about 11pm I was discharged so I think it was probably just a false alarm (waiting for test results on Friday). Apparently I have something a little bit odd (and ectopian or something. A bit of the cervix growing out of the womb)but it shouldn't impact on the baby.

Thanks for the support. I am glad I phoned the labour ward, they were all very nice and I suppose it is best to be safe rather than sorry.

Thanks snooks and MarsLady.

I am still waiting for the test results, but I hope everything will be fine. I had another "leak" yesterday, but I have decided not to panic again unless I have lower backache as well, as I think the tell tale time last time was really the lower backache (it was the contractions having started, but I didn't realise). I have decided this baby will stay put until at least 37 weeks. After that he can come when he wants (want my HB you see).
