I have a very bad back and have had for few years. Have BUPA through dh work and have been using it to see a chiropractor for last 4 months as im determined to sort my back. It still is bad and they suggested an xray or something just to make sure everything ok... im going to try see doc tomorrow about it but am worried as ttc #2. What are the implications of having any sort of scans (inc mri, xrays) around conception or early pregnancy?

I believe MRI's are safe (had one at 8mths pg) but know that they don't recommend having x-rays while pregnant. However, I had xray done at dentists when I was unkowingly pg with ds2. Mentioned this to the midwife and she wasn't worried (he's fine!) X-ray wasn't for my back tho.....

They will ask to schedule any x-rays on your back in the first 14 days of your cycle (ie before ovulation).

MRI is not recommended in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy for a number of reasons, and unless it was going to make a difference to your treatment during pregnancy, it would normally be delayed until after birth.
