Hi. After much research, we bought a Maclaren Techno XLR for our first baby due in May. We love the stroller but it does look as though it will be quite roomy for a newborn. Would like to know what others have used to add padding - also any other tips on this model v welcome. many thanks!

Does it come with a head hugger? If not you can often buy these separately from baby shops

You can also buy lovely pram snugs/travel cosy style things from various places/manufacturers, like the one here this page (not nec suggesting this one just giving you an idea of what I mean, and it fitted to a similar style buggy)

It does come with a head hugger, but still looks to be a ton of room in there. Playingthewaitinggame, those pram snugs look perfect - thanks!

Just finished setting up the xlr for my 1 month old as have used sling until now. There is loads of room - which is great as i hope to use it into toddler years. But have put the chair in the lowest recline setting for newborn, adjusted the crotch and shoulder straps for the newborn setting, added the liner and head hugger through the newborn setting straps - and lo fits snugly! Looking forward to taking him out tomorrow morning! Congrats!

has anyone else used the xlr for a newborn? have you used it as a travel system? is it light/portable/easily foldable? am thinking of getting one as it looks like it should last a long time, but wondering if the xt might be lighter/more practical, and whether i would use it as a travel system with the car seat.. thanks.. sorry for so many questions!

I bought the XLR for my newborn (now 11 months). We had a couple of problems with it - think just problem with it when it was delivered. The brake kept putting itself on whilst out walking. We had it replaced but to be honest, I sold it. I found it quite heavy (for a lightweight buggy) and will be getting a a lighter Maclaren at some point (like the XT). We did use it as a travel system (and still actually have the replaced carseat in its packaging if anyone wishes to make an offer on it!) Certainly didn't really have much problem with it being too roomy for DS. The one think that I do like about the Maclarens is that when you do get to put the back up, it clunks up rather than has a tie to hold it up (like our other buggy, the M&P O3 Sport).
Sorry, rampling post!
