We got furniture from Mammas and Pppas and they said that we could add on a few extra bits too (like mattress, pram etc)

most decent baby stores will offer a plan
ie you pay deposit and pay up before delivery.

just ask them

Why do you need that?

Oh bollocks, I thought you meant 'plan' as in some sort of bursery interior design and prescription for what you 'need'

TBH you'd be better getting a 0% for 6 months credit card and paying it off that way.

Do you not get the mothercare staff discount? We had a neighbour with one which was very handy.

John Lewis do a 'Nursery List' - you can book a 2hr appt with an advisor, who can take you round, and show you everything you need. She zaps it into the PC, and you get a unique registration number and password. You can then log in from home/work, and 'manage' your list accordingly - either by buying stuff, or deleting/adding stuff etc. You can also give the number and password to family and friends if they want to buy you a present...

I found it worked well for me. I went round, zapped everything I thought I needed, and then with dh went through it, and decided on the absolute essentials that we couldn't live without. Cut our bill by half!
