Feeling babys movements

Just wondering when everyone first felt baby moving and how you would describe it?

Im a first timer at 18 weeks. Been feeling a few different things in the past week and just trying to work out if any of them were baby?

about 19-20 weeks and it was like a butterfly going across the inside of my womb!

Haven't forgotton it and DS1 is 23 this year!

Around 20-22 weeks for me. It started like a butterfly movement, or little pops in my stomach.
I have read on threads that you should lie down very still for awhile and then you will feel the baby move.

I am 33 weeks now and get beaten up by my very active baby. Its amazing how quickly the movements intensify.

At 18 weeks you may be getting the 'bubbling' or 'fluttery' feeling. In another couple of weeks it will probably be more definite. And in another month it'll be really annoying!

It's about the right time to feel it for a first baby, subsequent babies you feel earlier - although I'm 24 weeks with no. 4 and I didn't feel it until 20 weeks.

Never felt any butterfly movements like people say. Felt more like when you can feel bubbles moving through your tummy. Was definately there by 20 weeks. Kept worrying as some people say they can feel it at 16 weeks (wind, definately!)

Very early for me - 11-12 weeks with all 3.

Not strong movements though until about 16 weeks.

I think I'm unusual though, my midwife didn't believe me until she felt it from the outside at 16 weeks!

Forgot to say what it felt like - for me it was like a marble rolling inside my bladder/uterus at first; very low down, quite faint and tickly. Then more like trapped wind

persistent fluttering

I was going to say "it doesn't feel like anything else", but remember having the exact same feeling AFTER ds was born (it must have been wind or uterus returning to normal or something) so i guess that it crap

Thanks ladies.

Last week i had a funny fluttery feeling. Very hard to discribe but only way i can is that i can imagine baby doing a complete somersault inside.

Then this week when im sitting quitely on the sofa i can feel pops. Just a single pop but in bursts ie 5 or 6 then stops.
Today have felt it on different sides of my tummy which make me think it might be baby. Mostly its on my right though ( thinking maybe feet?)

Does that sound like baby?

I felt first baby at around 18+ wks and ds2 at 16wks. Thought i wouldnt remember/recognise the sensation, but it was like someone lightly tapping from the inside1 Always vague at first, but then becomes obvious!

pigley - yes it does sound like baby.

it also feels a bit like when you have a diarrhoea and you can feel the next load gurgling along your pipes. Eek!

I didn't feel dd until 22 weeks but it felt like... a very small baby kicking my insides! Everyone was saying I wouldn't know what it was at first and that I probably missed it but I was looking out for anything that might have been the baby moving and I definitely didn't feel anything til then!

About 14-15 weeks and it fell like a trembling...I was lying in bed thinking 'I feel nervous' but didn't have anything to feel nervous about, then realised it was the butterflies feeling in my stomach. It just got stronger and stronger over the next few days.

You're making me b-r-o-o-d-y

Disney I'm so glad your hubby is on the way to recovery. Thought about your thread often and wondered how things were going.

The Due in July thread is called "Food food food" or something like that, there are 57 of us now- Sept/Oct must have been a busy time for getting it on for so many of us to be up the spout! Not surprised you don't manage to get on here that much with all your hundreds of children COme and see us all soon xx

Hi Pigley, think I've seen you on the first-timers thread. How're things?

I don't know if it's wind or a muscle twitch, but I've had a weird feeling for the last couple of days - low down on my left hand side today and on the right yesterday. It's happened quite a few times both days. It's not a bad feeling or pain though. Bear with me here on the weird explanation(!), but it feels like a bubble rising outwards, up to the surface of my skin. I'm 14wks today and didn't think I'd feel anything so soon, but a girl in my office is 25wks preg and said that these are the kind of feelings she had too - she had this at about 18wks. I'm still not sure it's the baby (keeping my fingers crossed though) as I've heard a lot of people say that you don't feel it until around 16 - 18wks with your first. Maybe it's just my overactive imagination and desperation to feel my baby move!!
Fingers crossed that you feel more movement!! xx
