Pregnancy

Problems with dates. Early scan dates not adding up.

I had an early scan last week to my dates should have been 8 weeks however scan showed I was only about 5 1/2 weeks.
Now have to wait two weeks to go back for another scan to see what is happening. The waiting is driving me mad and I'm still not feeling pregnant. Has anyone been through something similar that can help put my mind a rest one way or the other?

You have to remember that you can only guess when you conceived. You know when you had sex obviously but you might of conceived up to 5 days after that plus scans have a margin of error as your baby might be growing slightly faster or slower than the average. Try not to worry too much, you aren't too far out for this stage. Did they see a heartbeat or anything?

It was still to early to see a heartbeat just the sac and yolk. Whats upsetting me I think is I had been expecting to see something on Friday and when it wasn't there it's made me worry. Now I have another two weeks of trying not to think about it over-anaysing every pain and twinge.

Can't help w. the dating bit but don't worry about the lack of symptoms - you can't tell anything by that.

W. ds1 I had nausea, tiredness, cramps etc from 4wks, w. ds2 absolutely nothing (except missed period) until 9/10 weeks (tho he more than made up for it after that).

Maybe I'm not getting as much time to think about symptoms as I did last time. I'm sure with dd I was feeling awful by six and a half weeks (although was never sick), now I don't get a chance to be sick as chasing a four year old around most of the time.

I was convinced I was carrying a girl second time round cause I couldn't believe 2 'boy' pregnancies could be so different. The 20 week scan thought different though!

My sis had no symptoms at all until her bump started to show and spent a fortune on pregnancy tests.

Hope your next scan puts your mind at rest.

Hey I can put yr mind t rest, I actually started a thread a couple of weeks back about the same thing happening to me. I went for early scan as i had had a fall, thot i was nearly 9 weeks, turned out i was only nearly 7 weeks, 6+4 to b exact, was gutted!!! I have sufferd 2 miscarriages in past and to be put bk another agonising 2 weeks is so stressful, i now have ds, 10 months and dd,6 years old, and when i was pregnant with my ds they told me i was a week n a half earlier than i thot at an early scan but he caught up to what he should have bn by 12 week scan, so musta bn measuring small, so hopefully case with this one, have another scan tomorrow, and going on early scan i am now 10 and a half weeks, but hopefully i go tomorrow and they say i am 13 weeks tomorrow going on LMP!! . Fingers crossed, hope this post was not tooo confusing for u, and hope i have helped, get back to me. xxx

Hope your scan goes well and its nice to hear that everything is going well for you.
I did have an early scan with Dd, due to bleeding though though I think the dates made sense that time. I had to do the same wait as she must have been only about 5 1/2 weeks as well. The worst part is the two weeks of waiting, it's the trying to distract yourself, thankfully the doctor signed me off work so I don't have that to worry about but instead have been moping about the house when everyone else is at work.
At the scan last week the sonographer did say 'Oh, this is going to be a long pregnancy' she did sound really postive that it was just that I was earlier than I thought rather than anything else.
I do also feel a little more positive today as was feeling sick last night and feel alright this mornign so hopefully not the horrible sick bug everyone else in the familiy has had.
