Hello

I went for a scan yesterday and was told that I had low amniotic fluid. I am 32w.

Has anyone else experienced this so far from the due date?

regards

Moop

Hi there,

I had it around the same time as you, maybe a week or 2 after, firstly to reassure you, she's fine! it all went OK, I had her at 39 weeks.

I was convinced I was leaking fluid from early on, but no one believed me, they said I was wetting myself!!! dur, I think I would know if I was!! anyway, they later found I actually did have low fluid, genius!!

they monitored me quite a lot towards the end, and during the last couple of weeks I was in the day clinic mostly every day. In the end I asked to be induced because I had another DD at home who needed me too, and I was having to leave her for hours every day.
There are risks involved, although I can't remember what they are, I guess infection may be one of them, but as long as you're being monitored I think the risks are very low.

Hope everything goes well, i'm sure it will.

Hi - I had low waters confirmed at 32 weeks although I started leaking at 26 weeks but like Briarrose no one believed me. Hospital told me that incontinence is common in pregnancy....(ended up wearing the Tena lady pads!!)
Anyway - when they realised the water was low they found I had a hind water leak - like a slow puncture. I was also monitored really closely - all very reassuring. It was an infection that kick started off everything - but considering i'd been walking around unchecked for at least 6 weeks it was hardly surprising! My DD was born at 34wks - and was perfect - no probs - just a but skinny on the bum!

Fingers crossed and I'm sure everything will be fine

yes that sounds familiar, leaking from the hind waters, didn't know I had so many frankly!

Oh good, wasn't just me being accused of leaky wee. Honestly, they think that you lose all mental functions when you're pregnant don't they!

(she says with a twitch and a stammer)

I had this last time when mine went at 37 weeks... they kept asking if it "gushed"... it didn't but a lot came out. I did as the NCT said and saved it on a pantliner (to show it was clear) and the MW just looked a bit squeamish, pointed straight at the bin and said "it could easily be urine you know" even when I said I had no problems there! after further leaks a consultant said he would scan me and no waters, and I'd been left over 48hrs before I was induced, no infections luckily but they are so keen to blame incontinence (so they can send you home I guess) - it's infuriating!!

I also collected my leakage - just as my NCT teacher had told me to - I got a fine sized sample into a little pot. She'd assured us that they'd want to check any liquid - just to make sure your waters hadn't gone. But when I handed it to the scary midwife - she shook her head, disgusted - opened the nearest bin - and dropped it in

Can't wait to give birth in the same hospital in June....I have such confidence in them...eek!!
