Tips on Tying Shoes & Putting on Socks!

OK, I am now finding tying shoes and putting on socks rather difficult as my tummy starts to swell. I have been doing my best impression of a contortionist every day when doing these tasks but I end up completely out of breath and have to sit down for about 10 minutes before attempting to get out the door.

So any tips on how to tie shoelaces and put on socks would be greatly appreaciated.

Can you afford to hire a hunky bloke to come round in tight shorts and bare chested to do it for you?

starting to have a similar prob. works best if I sit down on bed and try to bring foot to me rather than travelling to foot (need longer arms though!) if hunky bloke is found please let me know!

I have given up on laces altogether! I have trainers and slip on other shoes and even they are a struggle! With socks I think I do what erie does; I sit on the end of the bed, bring my foot up to my side, pop my sock on over my toes and pull! Oh, and when dh is around I get him to do it - such a power trip!

Velcro trainers btw (doh!)

I would get dh to do it but I usually have him in the kitchen making my brekkie...oh the power is right!

Ha ha ha - you lot have me in stitches! I have tried to coax DH into doing all this for me but he works weird hours so I'd either have to get him to dress me at 5am or wait till he gets home at an ungodly hour!

I have been bringing my feet to me to put on socks but now my feet are starting to refuse to come up that far! Bump gets in the way!

I need to wear boots just now as it is so flaming cold outside - have a pair of Uggs which are fab but struggle to get them off!

Quiet right erie - it's his sole duty to cater to your every need & whim at this time of great uncomfortableness! Crack that whip!

Ah, one of the many joys of a winter pregnancy! Birkenstocks are so much easier in the summer!!

I also sit on the bed and cross my leg, bringing it up to rest on the other one.

Still a damn, unsightly mess though!!

Rather undignified, especially when you miss the grip of the sock/shoe on first attempt and nearly fall off the bed trying! Not an alluring sight for your dh to come across you in a crumply bumpy heap on the floor!

Sit on a low surface but not so low that you can't get up! And bring foot to hand.

I bought Vans shoes so no laces and no velcro. Really missing my birkenstocks!

spackcat - done that a few times now!

Hubby used to put my socks on for me before he went to work and I would wear slip on shoes on other days.

NAB - slip on shoes are fab but won't be much use in the freezing cold that we are suffering here just now! Now I have figured out why people actually have their pregnancies in summer - easier to get shoes to go on!

never take boots off ever - like cowboys

sit on edge of bed, lean to right and bring left leg up behind you (so heel is against your bum), then do same opposite side -

easy for socks, bit more tricky with shoe laces but easier than the front way I have found!

a bigger problem for me is the bikini line - haven't been able to se it for months so "tidying it up" without seeing it could be dangerous!

Yes, I have found that quite a risky job too, moomin!

Moomin - yup that is a very dangerous job now. I have taken to tidying up in front of a full sized mirror to watch I don't cut anything important off!!!
