Really having a panic, need to calm down - help

Am a day off my due date and have been poorly for the past week or so, turned into chest infectio... have been on antibiotics since saw dr on Mon.

Have been trying to take it easy and have generally been lying around the house. Dp back at work today so thought would try and sleep as long as poss to try and encourage my body to sort itself out... have been waking in the night a lot etc etc.

Woke up just now coughing so hard was like choking, am now really worried that my baby is not moving much at all. Have felt few small movements but he's normally quite vigorous, am panicking about whether he's ok.

Know that I haven't eaten so just having big bowl of cereal n cup of coffee to see if that gets him moving. Think I'm prob just freaking out as feeling rough and on my own and so close to duedate - first baby too.

Its all got a bit much! Someone calm me down please!!!

breathe...

have a cold drink and something sugary, and then have a lie down.

He won't have much room to move at this stage.

You're ok don't worry!. Small movements are normal as there isn't much room in there by now! If you are worried go in and they will put a monitor on you -you can guarantee the baby will move then!

thanks so much. am trying to be rational but it just seems a bit weird, and i think as I'm feeling so shite I'm much more likely to panic.

part of me feels like I should try to get up to hospital for reassurance, the other part just wants to crawl back in bed!

right, take some deep breaths

if you are concerned then you must go and be checked out.......

in the meantime, have a cold drink , preferably a sugary one, and lie on your left side., that should get baby moving

you know what your baby usually does, so if you think he is moving a lot less, then get some reassurance.

It sounds normal to me as my LO stopped moving towards the end as he was sooo big.

However if you are concerned go to hospital, they will be really nice to you (I went - as I was concerned) and it will take no time at all. You can then crawl back into bed and relax knowing all is well. Good luck with it all!

well I got some wriggles after a cold drink and lie down.

still not as much as usual, but as dp pointed out I've disrupted the lo's 'routine' while I've been ill as I've been sleeping & waking at weird times, and waking him up with coughing fits etc.

also dp just had to drop in at home so I got a cuddle which always helps, blimey had no idea I'd be feeling this pathetic by this stage in pg!

just hope I shift the lurgy soon, its exhausting and I don't fancy labour/looking after new babypudding while feeling like this!

tried to start packing hospital bag (well I am due tomorrow!!) so far have managed a sort of pile of stuff...
