Pregnancy

Is this baby kicking? 33 weeks and still not clear!

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and have been told to do a kick count by my MW. Trouble is, my baby moves very erratically and I hardly ever get definite kicks anymore. Mostly it's like gentle swimming movements, or when I lie down (that's when I can feel it best), I can feel something very lightly tapping on my back/spine - which I assume is the baby! Should I be worried that the thumps have gone away! Thanks everybody!

If you are feeling it on your sspine it may be that your baby is facing your spine in which case I think it can be very difficult to feel movement (and is often the explaination for why the mother of 4 who blatently should know what pregnancy feels like didn't know until she had given birth on the toilet as frequently reported in "Take a Break" ).

However you should still raise your concerns with a MW.

why did she ask you to do a kick count? have movements slowed? I would think as long as you'e feeling regulr movements then there's no need to stress with couning. Maybe LO is all tucked up so you're just feeling general moving. I'm 39+5 and been told DS is very slightly on the small side, I would also say I don't get 'kicked' but definately get ots of movements, so maybe a size thing. Following a growth scan I was told he is all curled up and comfy!x
