Tattoos while pregnant.

Hi I am 33 weeks pregnant with baby number 5. I have quite a few tattoos two with dh and older dc names on. I have been saving up for another one with my younger dc names on and now have enough to get it done. Would anyone know if this is ok to be done while pregnant? It will be on my arm. I have been told you cant have them done while your bf.
Thanks

Not sure whether you safely can, but is it wise to do it now? Unsuspected bits of skin stretch,or what if you get an infection? Curious to know why you can't have one while bf?

can you not wait until number 5 is born and have them all done together?

or come to your senses and not have them done at all?

maybe?

they will not tattoo you, you have more blood pumping round and will bleed more, and also you could faint and hurt the baby.

no reputable tattooist would touch you until afterwards

Like already stated, no tatooist with a half decent reputation would do it. Far too dangerous. You've got twice the nowmal ammount of blood pumping around your body so you would bleed a lot, it could make you feel ill and faint which puts you and the baby at risk, there is the chance of blood poisoning etc. There are a lot of reasons. It's a bad idea.

I had my first and only tatoo done when my dd was about 4 months. I had her name written in small letters down the bottom part of my spine. By this time obviously I had named and registered her, and was sure about my decision.

I would wait until you've had your baby, made sure it's the right gender, (cause if you get finlay tatooed on your arm and it turns out to be a Fiona, well your screwed!) decided on the name, stopped breastfeeding (if you're planning to) etc and then get it done. Theres no rush is there?

Why on earth would you want to? Just wait for a while and get it done when you stop BFing...

(and I've got 4, so I'm not anti-tattoo or anything!)

Ask Cod. She has loads of tattoos.

I wouldn't, I have 2 tatoos, but wouldn't risk any kind of infection.

And any decent tatoo artist wouldn't either.

I wouldn't bother getting tattooed until after the birth and BF - there's no rush is there?

As a complete non-sequitir, I had a random dream about getting tattooed the other night - I was going to get my MN username tattooed on my arm, but then I changed my mind about the font, but the tattooist (a huge fat scary woman!) refused without charging me £1000!

Later in that same dream, I went into labour, but wasn't allowed to give birth as I'd eaten 9 knives earlier, and they could harm the baby .

Needless to say my mind is a bit odd at the moment!

Ok I think I will wait till next summer. I wasnt planning to have babys name tattooed just yet it would be my second two boys names. Ill keep saving then and probably have all three done next summer. Thanks for all your help ladies.
Yes ofcourse didnt think about the extra blood supply either. Der youd have thought Id know that wouldnt you?
I take it you dont like tattoos then oliveoil?
No madmouse I dont know why you cant have it done while bf either. Maybe again its to do ith the risk of blood poisoning and infection etc.
I would go to the same tattoist Ive had the last three done so I know hes a very good and very clean tattoist
