Anyone know anything about low blood pressure?

I fainted yesterday so went to get myself checked out with mw. My BP was 90/50 and she reassured me that everything was fine but if I start fainting 3 or 4 times a day I should see my GP. The mw was lovely and told me this is common (I'm 14 wks) and I went home and put my feet up. I'm now not sure if I'm happy with the advice and I also notice she'd written in my notes that my BP was 110/55! Not a great difference I know and she may have made a mistake but I was wondering if I should have had a further check today and the hospital was covering itself by changing the result a bit? OR am I being paranoid not for the fisrt time!

my bp went that low later on in pg, nobody was particularly concerned, and I didn't notice any ill effects.

i have low bp, and had it in pg too. not a worry.

just means you have o take it easy more. put your feet back up and stop stressing

if youre really worried, and keep fainting, go and ask agin - they are there to set your mind at ease re health concerns in pg and wont mind you asking if youre concerned.

but sounds like you have nothing to worry about.

Low bp quite common if PG 90/50 is a little on low side, but not hideously worryiing.Drink plenty of fluids, eat regularly and take it easy.

Blood pressure has different meanings for different people. For me, my normal b.p. is around 90/50, and now in pg is about 70/40! However since this is not yet causing problems, I don't need any intervention. But since yours is giving you problems, you should get it checked more frequently, and perhaps need something for it if you keep on fainting. You may only faint that one time and not again though, it happens.
Good luck and stay well x

My BP is normally 90/60 during pregnancy, which my Dr jokes about but says is fine. But my Naturopath doesn't mind the 90 but would prefer the 60 were higher. I am on supplements from her but whether they have any impact on BP I don't know. Really only a problem if I get up to fast or blow my nose a bit enthusiastically - which I am obviously trying not to do!

I think around the 14-16 week mark it's the time in your pregnancy where your blood pressure is at it's lowest. For both my pregancies I've felt faint during these weeks so I know this is normal for me. This may not happen again so try not to presume it will, but at the same time, don;t stand for long periods, if you're feeling a bit light-headed then just stop, sit down, have a drink of water (keep water with you) and don't panic as this will make it worse. Also, try and get as much sleep as possible.

For me, this period passed soon enough and I was back to full energy in no time.

Low blood pressure is normal in pregnancy. The progesterone hormone causes all your tubular structures to relax and dilate (hence things like varicose veins). As you blood has more room to move, its pressure goes down. This can often get to levels where you don't quite have enough blood getting to your brain and you feel light-headed or even faint. As blood volume catches up, the problem goes away after a few weeks.
