Hi all i need some advise.

I am 33 weeks pg and at about 1pm this afternoon i got a sharp pain at the top of my bump. After that it went tight and the whole thing was painfull. The pain lowered right down to my bikini line area, and became really painfully and pressure like.

As i couldnt get hold of hubby at the time, i decided to try and sleep until he returned. Now i have woke up the pain is no where near as strong but still feels as if somethings pushing down.

I hate fussing about nothing so dont want to call the out of hours MW for no reason.

Any advise on what this could be????????

Could it be braxton hicks that you are experiencing? Sorry to ask as am not sure if this is your first. Obviously you would know if it was your second!

is it your first pg?
Could it be a braxton hicks? (they are not painful per se, more extreme pressure and the whole bump does go very very tight...)

hoping lulumama or someone mid-wifey is around to reassure you...

ok

you should always call the MW for reassurance, or if you feel something is wrong

imo, it sounds like your baby could be starting to move lower down in the pelvis, and you are having braxton hicks.. all of which are perfectly normal for the last trimester .

if you have any fluid or blood loss, or the pains get regular or more intense, then call labour ward

try a warm bath and a paracetomal if pain is bad, and call your MW if you feel you need to

yes it is my first.

The tightening didnt last for long, But the pain all over and then the pain below my bump where enough to bring me to tears for a while, so i wouldnt have thought it was braxton hicks.

The pains only very mild now, but its remained constant which stears me away from thinking its Braxton hicks????????

no stinging or burning? sometimes a UTI can trigger ctx and give you pain

do you think you would feel better if you spoke to the MW?

filthymindedvixen · 22/11/2007 17:19

lulu - could it be the pelvis ligaments?

might be , but 33 weeks would be late to suddenly develop SPD, but certainly things are moving and stretching and softening ready for birth . so much hormonal activity, and it causes all sorts of aches and pains

i would say to give MW a call, as you are clearly anxious, and i think the reassurance will help

there you go Didsnbump - Lulu knows everything. Go get some reassurance and good luck with your pg

I've been getting the same thing and I'm 33+4 weeks. I literally feel like the baby is going to fall out sometimes and today like you it's been hurting lower down and I get tightening and pressure I had this with my other two but a bit later on I think.

No no probs with stinging or burning at all.

I dont want to not call the MW just incase somethings up with the baby, but as the pains very mild now i dont want to make a fuss if you know what i mean. I know if i speak to her she will just send me straight to the hospital!!!!!!!!

why don;t you see how you go, and if you are still in pain after an hour or so, give her a call? no point being up all night worrying, it is more than likely all is well, but no point being anxious either!

Yeah that sounds like a plan. Will have some tea and a bath and then see how it is.

Thanks for the advise.

hi dids

if you are still concerned about the pain, then call again and asked to be checked out..

i recall being in pain and having a lot of heavy duty Braxton hicks when my second started to engage... to the point i had to stop walking or doing what i was doing to let it pass.... i remember being rooted to the spot in the park, clutching my belly, and people asking if i needed an ambulance ! everything was fine and i went full term.

i am sure you will be too

Hi I had this yesterday and my mw came out to examine me she found that the baby had moved down and starting to engage, I am 32 weeks so sounds about right. The pain was shocking mainly when I was lying down, last night I was told to sleep with a cushion between my knees and it worked wonders in relieving the pressure.. I think as long as there is no blood or fluid you should be fine x
