Moses basket or wicker basket? I know it's late but I cannot decide!

We've bought a moses basket for DC2 due in 4 wks. DD used the carrycot of her pram but now we've got a double buggy we don't have the cc anymore.

When we were shopping last weekend DH saw the wicker type of moses basket and asked why we didn't got for that rather than the palm leaf moses basket I had bought.

I hadn't really thought about it, just knew we needed a first bed for DC2 - having 2nd thoughts now - what are the advantages of having the wicker one over the palm leaf one or should I just forget DH's question and tell him him "because".

Thanks!

Morning,

So I'm not overlooking something vital that a wicker one offers over the palm/maize leaf ones?
I know the wicker ones feel a lot more sturdy but thought the non wickers ones would be easier to travel with (DD1 will still be in the travel cot when we visit family etc).

Hmmm

spugs the only difference I can see is that palm or maize type of basket like this do have a bit of movement in their sides whereas the wicker ones like this are really solid.

I wouldnt buy either. But if you're thinking of visiting people alot then I think its a good idea but be aware they will only last 2 mths at most.

Is this your first baby? I only ask because I didn't even leave the house for the first 3 weeks when i had my first ( that could just be me though! ) so no way would i be going and visiting anyone lol.

LMG - no this is my 2nd and certainly don't intend on visiting anyone in the first 6 wks! My family are 450 miles away and there's a family occasion when this baby will be about 8 wks old so we'll hopefully go down for that.

My niece slept in her moses basket until she was 4 months old so I was hoping to get a bit of use out of it!

When you only got 2 months out of yours was your baby too long for it?

No it's not that she was too big for it, it was because she was such an active baby, I was scared she would tip it so then we borrowed a swinging crib instead. I guess if you have it on the floor it's not so much of a problem

Still think moses baskets are a lot of money for 4mths worth of use. I didn't buy my moses basket it was present for my first dd.
