Tyaca - do you know anyone who has a doppler? If you're very worried it may even be worth purchasing your own. I'm a natural born worrier and I find it so helpful having one as everytime I have a niggly worry I can just use it and reassure myself.

I think at 20 weeks it's common to have gaps during movements because it's still not big enough for you to feel everything so it's very dependent on the position of the baby - don't quote me on that though! I'm certainly no medical professional.

Best thing to do is exactly what you are doing which is seeing the GP or midwife when you can. Good luck!

Can you get to the doctors today? I know it's getting late, but they should see you if you're very worried.

Either than or get to the day assessment unit if you have one locally?

Hope everything is Ok.

Sorry - don't mean to panic you.. I dropped a big can of tuna on the top of my stomach when I was 20 weeks, it hurt like hell and the baby stopped moving for a while(who can blame it

i would have panicked myself stupid if I hadn't gone to the docs straightaway, but got there, they heard the heatbeat immediately and I felt so much better..

Hi tyaca,
I'm 21 weeks and had being going through a bit of the same thing till I had my scheduled scan yesterday and saw the little one jumping around! I started to feel movements a few weeks back, and would feel quite a lot one day and then barely anything the next, leaving me to think that something had happened. Like claphamlauren says, I gather this is quite common at this time cos the baby is moving where you wouldn't feel it, or you're busy and are not noticing it because really the baby is still quite small. The pains could be round ligament pains (common between 18-24 weeks) or constipation maybe?

I'm sure you're doing the right thing though by going to the doctor for reassurance, and your doctor will definitely be able to listen to the heartbeat.

All the best.
