I have just got home to find a good lot of brown discharge in my knickers. I am only six weeks, but now I am really worried. Is this likely to be a miscarriage?

Don't worry yet, as it is brown, it is likely to be old blood so not harmful. New blood is red.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come soon!

I've just found pink cm on wiping and I'm 6 weeks on Friday. Brown is usually old blood and generally something you don't need to worry about. Red or pink id fresh and usually indicates a miscarriage.

going for 3 dont be so down yet hun, it might just be an implantation bleed or something x brown blood is old littlelamb, but if you are concerned then get the number for your epau and try and give them a ring x

Don't worry yet. I had exactly the same thing when I was pregnant, sometimes it is just old blood, I think they tend to worry when you bleed red blood. Give your Doctor a ring to put your mind at rest,or call the on call Doctor, they'll probably ask you to pop in. I know it sounds horrible but take your knickers with you, because they asked for mine as they like to see exactly what is going on,but it is important that you speak to someone or get seen just to be on the safe side.

i had quite a lot of bleeding from the start (4wks) some of it really bright red with clots in and i am now 40 + 3.

obviously it could be a sign that something is wrong though, but i do think it is surprising how many women bleed and then go on to have successful pgs.

i bled with my first 2 pgs too and they were fine.

I had loads with both my pregnancies, both bright red sometimes too. Healthy pregnancies, we never got to the rot of why it happened. Try not to worry, you are probably fine.

Sorry to crash Littlelamb.

This is my fith pregnancy and I didn't bleed with any of the others though 2 ended in mc but mid trimester. It's not normal for me and I almost wish it had happened this morning so I could have gone to get it checked out.

I bled enough with ds2 to have to put a sanpad on. he's fine. Fingers crosses for you because I know how frightening this is.

Oh goingfor3, I see now why you are so worried - can you get to the epu? Surely with your history they will see you!

i had exactly the same thing happen to me at 6 weeks, dd is now 8 months old
try not to worry, get an emergency appointment at gp's tommorrow morning and they should refer you for an early scan to check baby.

i had both brown discharge and pink tinged cm, and they never found out why. it kept happening on and off throughout my pregnancy - got fed up of having doctors hands up my fanjo

let us know how you get on, and try not to worry - hard i know xxx

My epu needs a gp referal so I will book an emergency appointment in the morning and hopefully they will get me a scan asap though I feel so upset I don't think I'll be able to even explain whats happened, I had my last mc is July so I still feel very raw from that.

Little lamb - I would get it checked out as soon as possible. Don't want to worry you, but I bled red blood with both this pg (DS is 14 days old) and DD (3.5 yrs) and a very early natural mc last Christmass, but only had some brown discharge in my knickers that signalled my missed mc last year.

I'm sure your local hospital will have a Early Pregnancy Unit you can try and get an appointment with in the morning - it depends on your health authority as to whether you need a referral from your GP, so i'd ring them first.

take care

Goingfor3 - hope everything is ok with you too - same advice to you, but I also had pink CM at the beginning of this pregnancy.

Well I just got an appointment for a scan on Tuesday morning. I had a blood test done yesterday to measure the pregnancy hormones and I am supposed to go back on Monday for another one, to check that there is an increase. A lovely woman just rang me from the hospital to say that from the look of the sample they have got i am far enough along to have a proper scan so fingers crossed. I have had no more spotting since, so thats something positive.

Good luck with the scan littlelamb. I had one on friday and the baby had a heart beat. I was also given progesterone to keep my uterus quiet as the dr put it and haven't had any bleeding since.

I am 5 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing brownish red discharge. This is the first time for me and I am worried.

Report

Am happy to report that all is well I went in with my bladder bursting, and my appointment was half an hour late so I had to give up and go to the loo, so was dreading an internal scan. But the picture through my tummy was very clear and everything seems to be ok. I saw a heartbeat, which is incredible as this thing measures just 3.6 mm crown to rump . They even gave me a picture of my little blob to take away! Am very relieved, but I had suspected things were ok, as morning sickness kicked in over the weekend. Have been given a tentative due date of June 1st next year
