HI - I'm looking for some advice on how to encourage baby to engage.

My last appointment with midwife she said head is down but not engaged.

Any advice to encourage lo down a bit.

Feeling fed up waiting for baby to arrive!!

Thanks

if this is a second or more baby, then engagement not really that relevant. if a first baby, still might not start engaging until late on.. can be partially engaged , doesn;t have to be fully engaged for labour to start

sitting on a birth ball, walking up the stairs sideways and walking generally can help baby move down into the pelvis

but baby engaging is not all it takes for labour to start, but the pressure on the cervix is helpful

My baby did not engage until i was well in labour, this was my first baby and i was concerned that he hadn't engaged! I ended up with a vag. birth, took a little longer to get there but i did get there, I was only 2 days overdue aswell!!
Good luck and try not to worry

its up to the baby not you really - and they can seem more engaged and then pop back up for a bit and then re-engage (this happened to me)

I knew something was going on because the weight dropped very low - thats a good indication that things are going that way!

I was advised to sit on a chair backwards.

legs astride the back and lean forward into the backrest of the chair.

Birthing balls work wonders.

This is my first and my baby didn't engage till 38+ weeks and he is not fully engaged yet. Been told don't really matter that much.
