My friend has just been diagnosed with low amniotic fluid at 20 week scan...

Which is incredibly worrying for her, as she lost her last baby at about 18 weeks

She won't know the outcome for certain until after another scan next week.

Anyone else been through something similar and gone on to have a healthy baby? Would love to be able to offer her some hope to cling on to as she is really struggling

Thanks

Bodders - can't help hon but I did see a programme about a woman like this on TV. They gave her some amniotic fluid supplement I think but I think she was confined to her bed. Hope you get some help soon.

MY SIL had loww amniotic fluid with both her pregnancies, had C sections with both and has two very healthy boys, fingers crossed for your friend.

Thanks guys. I just feel it must be such a worrying time for her, and because I have just recently had a baby, I know I am probably the last person she wants to see at the moment.

More happy endings gratefully received!

I had this too, but wasnt until 27 weeks. My placenta had started to fail and water levels dropped to the lowest there allowed to be. I now have a healthy 4 year old
I hope your friend is ok and next weeks scan shows a good improvement.
Also waters can replenish themselves sometimes.

My sis in law had this throughout her pregnancy - the baby was born early, by ceaserean at 37 weeks but she was absolutely fine.

Her water levels were low from around 20 weeks also.
