High temperature in pregnancy....

I know it's not good in early pregnancy, what about late pregnancy? I'm 37 weeks and I've got a terrible cold, I don't have a thermometer but I'm sure I've got a temperature, I'm really hot and shivery. I'm taking paracetamol to try and keep my temp down, but I've reached my limit for this 24 hour period. I don't mind being poorly myself but I'm just worried that the risks of a temperature in late pregnancy are as bad as they are in early pregnancy.

Oh MrsMar, I can't offer any wisdom I'm afraid but wanted to give you a big virtual hug (((((((hug))))))))

When people have colds, I always swear by taking ecchinacea but I'm not sure if thats allowed in pregnancy - perhaps its worth taking a little trip to the GP to check and see if there's anything else they can offer you?

Hope you feel better soon... xxx

MrsM -- have you called NHS direct? 0845 46 47.....I did once when DH had a high temp and they sent us straight to hospital.

Feel better and talk to someone sooner rather than later. PLus are you drinking lots of fluids?

xx

hi dal and plp! I haven't called nhs direct and gp is shut for the weekend (of course, what are they paid all that money for? ) I'm going to try and see if I can summon up the energy to go to the chemist, it's only across the road, but getting dressed is difficult enough! Thanks for support I guess I'm just going to spend another day on the sofa dozing. I'm drinking tons of water, soooo thirsty! Hopefully that'll help to keep my temperature down, I'm really tempted to take a cool bath, but I'm sure that's not right when you've got a cold.

Mrs Mar, If you get worse, maybe try your nearest walk in centre at the hospital, they are mostly nurse led and will certainly see you as a priority being pregnant.
