I would go and see the GP. Unlikely, but it could be ectopic, I suppose... Better safe than sorry.

if it's on one side go and see your gp asap

need to make sure it's not ectopic

can you get emergency appointment

Mumpbump · 31/08/2007 16:31

Or go to the EPU at your local hospital if they have one.

Could be either, I think, at 6 weeks, u/s or internal scan, I mean.

most epu's have a saturday clinic... you'll need a scan and blood test for hormone levels... this test needs to be repeated after 48hrs depending on scan result

if you can't get appintment phone epu yourself or toddle along to a&e

Report
saralou · 31/08/2007 16:36

they wouldn't do internal unless you were having any bleeding

Report
saralou · 31/08/2007 16:37

although scan would probably have to be done internally at 6 wks

your not being silly at all... could be anything causing the pain, their may be a cyst on your left side... it could be stretching pains

but better to get checked out

that is exactly what i went to see my doctor for this morning, and im 6 weeks too! The pains I had were just a tiny bit lower, and to the left of my belly button. The dr said that theu would have to be much lower than this to have anyting to do with the baby. The pain was wierd, like an immense tenderness, but it hurt so much! Every woman is bound to have some kind of pain, the body is going through a massive change. Im sure you'll be fine, I'll be thinking of you, but its always best to check. Its your babies life, nobody would ever think you were wasting time.

I had crampy pains down one side when I was about 7 weeks pregnant with dd and it turned out to be a urine infection.

Best go to get yourself checked out, it might just be growing pains

I had sharp pains in my lower abdomen, sort of like period pains, sort of like shooting pains at exactly 6 weeks pregnant, although i didnt know i was pg at the time, thought my period was coming! im now 30 weeks, turns out it was just my uterus stretching ..

Hi, I had sharp pains, cramping feelings and dull aches all the way up to 13/14 weeks. My son is now one year old now. I think it was just stretching pains but it was still quite frightening and worrying at the time. xxxx

This is exactly what I've been having but the [ains are very lower left. Doctor did internal examination (TMI?) and said that she's 99.9999% sure it's not ectopic. The pains starting to calm down now but sometimes hurts quite a bit. I got told it's things growing, so I'm crossing my fingers that's right. They've booked my scan for 7 weeks to check.
xx

Tahnk god I found this thread! I'm 6 weeks and went to the GP yesterday for exactly the same reason. Pain comes and goes but is like period pain so really worried me. GP wasn't sure if it was stretching pains or the influx of hormones affecting my endometriosis (wasn't expecting any pain at all, thought it would put an end to it at least for duration of pregnancy). Anybody pregnant with endometriosis and still getting pain??

This is exactly what is happening to me at the moment. I have pain on the lower left of my abdomen. I am 6 weeks pregnant. It is not an unbearable pain but it is worrying me. It is like period pains and it is quite low down. I am worried it is ectopic, but I have read this quite rare. It is good to hear there are other things it could be, but I am going to talk to the hospital tomorrow

I am 6 weeks pregnant and in terrible pain. I was diagnosed with endometriosis 10 years ago having lived with excruciating pain for 10 years previous to that! I have been symptom free due to hormone treatment for almost 8 years. I got married last month and stopped this treatment shortly before in an effort to conceive. I had a really healthy pain free period last month and got pregnant immediately! Unfortunately the endo pain has returned and there's very little the medical profession can do.
I took matters into my own hands and went to see a clinical nutritionist yesterday who specialises in endo and fertility. I'm confident the pain will subside as my body gets the nutrients it needs and I stop eating all the things I'm intolerant to! Check out www.endometriosis.co.uk
If you're in pain and have endometriosis, there's lots you can do. The squat position and deep breathing have kept me from screaming these last few weeks.
