hi
just been thinking about when i gave birth
i was totally naked, i was in the bath for 12 hours then the birth pool for one though
i remember reading the leaflet about water births that said "some ladis prefer to wear a bikini top or tshirt in the pool"
so i packed my little vest top
when i was in labout though i totally didnt care didnt feel in the slightest embarssed [and i can be quite shy]as soon as i went to get in the bath i stripped off
also i woundnt of cared if 10 million people where watching me !
how did you feel about this ?

I had a CS, but likewise didn't care that everyone could see me and that I had a catheter and a pessary inserted. I was so focussed on DD being born!

I think I wore a maternity nightie thing when I had dd but was totally starkers with ds.
In fact I remember stripping off down to just my bra and then screaming at dh to take it off

I couldnt have cared less and tbh it made things easier to feed ds when he arrived.

do you know, I can't even remember whether I was or not Must have been a combination of the gas, the epidural and that 'I-don't-care-as-long-as-this-baby-gets-out-eventually' feeling, because I truly can't recall anything about clothes. In the post birth photos I seem to be only wearing a bit of bedsheet, clutching DS tightly with a very drunk grin on my face, so it would seem I was naked during the last bit at least.

I wore a night dress with DD1, with DD2 I wore jogging bottom and vest until about half hour before she was born then whipped joggers off and put sheet over me.

Well, there wasn't really any whipping action going on - DH helped

I was butt nekkid.

I thought I'd be bothered about being in the buff, but when it came to it, I was hot and the feel of fabric (or anything) touching my skin was irritating as hell.

For most of the labour (only 3 hours from start to finish) it was just DH and I with the midwife popping in every 20 mins or so to check on me and the lights were dimmed (was middle of the night). Maybe I'd have felt differently if I'd have had swarms of medical folk around me in a bright room.

i wore a little nightie, with straps i whipped down for skin contact when DS was born. only reason i wore anything was that nobody believed he was coming but me, and then he made a rapid entrance.

Old short nightshirt each time.

Really hoping for a home water birth this time, so most probably would be naked then.

I had a big pink nightie with 1 &2 and i'm glad i wore it cos when i see it now it makes me smile.

Thinking water birth this time and can't imagine having it floating all around me so think will swap it for a maternity tankini instead.

I was naked with DD2 as I was in a pool at home so quite free and easy. First time around I wore some hideous mothercare nightie which for some reason I kept hoiked up underneath my boobs, but with my bare ass hanging out for all the world to see. I whipped it off towards the end though so I could do skin to skin and that was lovely - newborn baby put straight into my arms while still attached. And then she weed on me. My experience from working as a doula is that large mens shirts are quite good, they cover your bum at the back and can be unbuttoned for nursing when bubba is born, another option is a vest top and a sarong. However my breasts are so humongous when pregnant that I would be hard pressed to find a vest top to accommodate them, so that was not really an option for me. Hospital gowns are foul, uncomfortable and not very elegant.

I have no idea what i wore when i had my DS

I am planning on keep a little bit of modesty with this LO, although how, i'm not quite so sure lol!

I just had a t-shirt on both times, that I had been wearing when I went into labour.

I was naked for part of it, the part when i got in the birthing pool... i also though i would want to wear a top but just whipped it off (and I did whipp) was so desperate to get in the pool.

When I moved from birthing centre to delivery suite i had a gown on open at the bank, knickers discarded long before and walked there with my ass exposed to anyone walking past at the time.

I wore one of those NHS gowns both times, not sure how i ended up in one! Had packed oversized T shirts but they never made it out of the bag. Possible cos they were both assisted deliveries.

There's no way i'd have given birth in the nuddy! I know they say you don't care, and i didn't care about some things (eg how much noise i made) but i must be a prude about goin starkess! i guess it was a tiny bit of dignity i wanted to cling onto

wore my lucky giving birth nighty with first 3, except for when i got in pool and i stripped off. forgot it for ds4 and ended up with crash section, should have been wearing it from 38 weeks just in case then i would have been ok

Hee hee, I wore a long vest in the pool but more as it had become a long standing joke as I said I didn't want to be naked so had to prove a point......

Truth be told when it came down to it I couldn't have cared less, especially as labour wore on - I could have been naked infront of a stadium full of people and not noticed, too focused on giving birth !!

I wore a T shirt of DH's - didn't want to get any of MY stuff dirty! I told him it would be a way for him to feel fully involved in the whole thing and he fell for it. Not sure he realised he'd never be able to wear it again....
