Hi, no personal experience.....my sister gave birth there and didn't have a great time. Topped with me strolling in and 'stealing' her baby (no-one let me in or out, I just strolled in and took him off to the car!), I personally chose not to go there for me......

On the other hand, lots of girlies from my NCT have literally just had their babies there and not a bad word to say about the place so its probably just down to bad luck......

I think you can have a crap experience in any hospital depending on the factors of that day........I am booked in at Princess Alexandra in Harlow which I have found great so far, but who knows how it will turn out on the day!

Thanks Nath. God, that is scary. A friend of mine had her baby there in December and I went to visit her and I was impressed with the way the security wouldnt let me go up and I had to wait for ages. King George or Homerton were the other options, but Whipps is just so close.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have seen that link.... it cover Royal Free, Whittington and UCLH I think (where I had a relatively positive experience BTW). Thanks for the heads up tho. I am in Walthamstow so not too far from Wood Green... am hoping to walk to the hospital as it is not far as last time got sent out to walk about to get things moving a bit faster.... so thought i would take the initiative.

Mixedmama, I believe King George may be moving their maternity to Queens in Romford........and I believe Homerton to be quite good!

I didn't have a good experience there with the after care. My mid wife was fab but I had the witch from hell who did my stitches. She dosn't work there anymore. Not a brilliant time on the ward either.

But it was almost 10years ago now.

do you have a choice of Whipps or Princess Alexandra?

Gave birth there 5 years ago so prob a bit out of date. Given that I planned a home birth and ended up with induction, long labour then cs, I have to say it was a very positive experience. I had 2 fantastic midwives during the birth, excellent team who carried out the cs and then pretty good aftercare (albeit on the private ward which we decided to fork out for). Heard many horror stories before I went there, but on the day they really came through for me. Good luck.
