Lump under armpit

Hi - am 28+5 and yesterday evening noticed a small lump in my armpit. Is tender when I touch it. Am wondering whether this is something that can happen during pregnancy and nothing to worry about or whether I am better getting to the GP and having it checked out?

anyone else get these when pregnant?

I got this, went to the docs and it was a blocked pore (or something like that). Go and put your mind at rest

thanks guys - better safe than sorry i guess! have made an appt for next week so given it a little time to clear up on its own - otherwise will get it checked out.

It could be anything, I would go to the doctor to get it checked out. You should not go around worrying about it especially when pregnant.

I went to the doctor after having given birth because I had a lump in my breast. It turned out to be milk for my baby.

The doctor won't laugh (much ) if it turns out to be something as silly as my milky lump that just needed to be magaged away.

I also agree, see the dr but in the meantime try going without deodorant (sp?) for a few days if you can (!?) as it may be a bloked pore and could get very sore. Or it could be swollen glands, I've had both and the latter was worse. Though it was only last week and we were on holiday so that didn't help.....

I'm sure it will be something simple though.

I've had a sore lump in my armpit. It was painful to lift my arm above my head because of it. However, after managing to lift my arm & inspect my armit with a mirror I found the lump was like a boil. Fortunately it went down then disappeared after a few days.
I've had these several times, both before I was preganant & during.
My mother says she used to suffer quite badly with them when she was younger, but hers were worse and she had to get them drained at the doctors (yuk).
If your lump is still there after a few days I'd definitely get it checked out, just to be on the safe side.

I have this - first appeared when I was pg with DD. Doctor said that it was just some breast tissue under my arm, that was swelling due to the pg - it got much more sore when my milk came in after birth. After i'd become aware of it, I noticed it along with pre-menstrual breast pain after my pg - I'd never noticed it before!

Not as noticeable this pg, but still there.

Having said all that, I would still get it checked out by the doctor - never know with lumps in breast tissue - best to be over-cautious than not, I would say!

take care

I reckon you should get it checked out by a dr to reassure you as I know what you must be thinking as I have a mega lump under one armpit which I have had checked out three times by 3 different GPS and a midwife who tell me it is normal breast tissue. Some peeps just get more lumpier breasts than others in preparation for breastfeeding.

Weird - just noticed exactly the same thing in my left armpit while watching telly. Pretty sure it's just a glandy thing though, prob because of milk production. It's small, pea-like and sore when pressed.

thanks everyone. Annie - that is exactly what i have! well have an appt next friday morning - if it goes down, can cancel it, if not will let the doc look at it. am not too worried as it coincides with the extra hormones body is releasing right now to help produce colustrum....fingers crossed, all will be ok!

Hi - I've got three little lumps there now. My boobs seem to have suddenly grown, so guessing this must be the reason.

Has your immune system had to work on anything lately?

Hmm, yeah. A chest infection and a sore throat. Guess that could be why...

Even the littlest thing like a cut on your finger can cause a gland under the arm to swell but see your GP just to be on the safe side.

well the consensus is see your gp - my money is on the gland though - big time. #

Your GP will say "hmm, proabbly a swollen lymph gland - have you had any infections or anything - ah I see- well it is most likely to be a swollen lymph gland. If it hasn't gone down in the next week come back and see me."
