Hyia

Just wanted to have a quick moan - feeing sick all the time and also really tired today. Not being helped that I share an office with a bloke who is currently complaining he has a cold (read as Man flu)

Any suggestions on stopping the nausea? I've tried the usual ginger biscuits, water, mints etc.

Rascal

Hi Rascal
How far on are you? I felt the same as you up until about 14 weeks, then I was able to get my old appetite back!!
Would second Lulumama on the eating little and often. Have you tried sparkling water? It's not as bland as still water but some people find it's easier to drink. Peppermint tea is also good, although I found I couldn't even look at it for the first half of this pregnancy. Ginger tea or Lemon & ginger tea seemed to go down ok but it's really just a matter of trial and error, as everyone's different.
Haven't tried the sickness bands but I've heard a lot of people say they work.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Oh, and get plenty of sleep as lack of sleep can make you feel even more nauseous.

when i was getting morning sickness i had to start taking the stairs at work becasue the smell of the escalator made me heave

its gone now though and i have been eating everything in sight (including prob between 10/12 peices fo fruit at mo (i just find its so refreshing))

i used to nibble away at rich tea biscuits, but actually found in the end that if i forced my self to eat then i would feel better and be ok to eat next time - everybody is different - dont force yourself if you really cant face it

hope it gets better

I suffered terribly from feeling sick from 7 weeks until now (15 weeks). I tried all the usual-ginger biscuits, ginger tea, sea bands and nothing helped except eating - needless to say I have gained some weight!

I then went to see an acupuncturist and felt immediately better after my first session for about 3 days then the sickness came back again. Second session helped alot too but then the third session did nothing. I haven't had a session for about a month now but I am feeling so fed up of the sick feeling that I have booked another session tomorrow.... so keeping my fingers crossed that it helps again.

Hi Rascal. I really sympathise as I'm (hopefully) coming out the other end of all that. I still get the odd wave of nausea but nothing like as bad.

Anyway, someone recommended chocolate milk and my first thought was ugh! But it seemed to work for me. Having drunk it for ages though I got a bit sick of it and switched to ice cold milk with a few grains of Nesquik in and it seems to be ok too. I can't stand milk when you can taste the nipple (sorry!) hence my need to put something in it.

I hope it eases soon. I really think there is nothing worse

Oh, and I'm with you on the bread thing. The only thing I can touch is soda bread - maybe because it has such a strong taste/flavour anyway it blocks out all of the yucky sugary, yeasty smells that I get from everything else.

thank you everyone!
I'm going to try seasick bands tonight - will have to dig them out!

Babylovesmuffins - I'm not sure how far on I am at the moment - somewhere between 6 and 10 weeks - I got pregnant as soon as I came off the pill so no period = no date. Seeing the midwife on Tuesday and hopefully get a scan arranged asap to get dates!

sarah jct - like the sound of chocoltae milk! - will buy some tonight!

mother2b - fruit makes me feel better - melon, apple etc and all good for baby

Hi Rascal,
I found grating a bit of fresh ginger and putting it in a bottle of water really helped me, tasted a bit odd, but did the trick.
Hope you feel better soon

the minute anything you fancy to eat crosses your mind - anything - get it and eat it immediately
was the only thing that worked for me

(also the Bottlegreen ginger and lemongrass cordial - hot or cold - was brilliant for getting some sugar into me when I felt there was nothing I could stomach)
