Physio for SPD - any good news stories?

I have finally seen an antenatal physio for SPD, am 24 wks pg today. She was quite good, her explanations made a lot of sense and gave me exercises to do to strengthen the area. But I had also started osteopathy recently and now have to decide which to continue with.
I have another appointment made for both treatments next week and both therapists keen that I decide to continue with one treatment only. Osteo seems like a quick fix pain releiver, and physio seems like hard work but better long term strength. And of course osteo costs and physio doesn't!
Any recommendaions?

Mandler, I have had both. IME the osteopathy was more successful than the physio. But v. pricey.

Did you have both at the same time?

No, i had physio in my 1st 3 pgs. This pg. the SPD has been MUCH worse - I was crawling round the house on all fours and needed crutches for a period of time. I went straight to the osteopath this time. It was v.v. acute when she saw me and she reduced the inflammation etc. over a few sessions. Then it was up and down. Always felt sore after sessions but much better next day and for a time after. It has settled down now, which I think is just me - I'm q. lucky that my SPD only lasts until about 34/35 wks. Try and find an osteopath used to treating pg. women. I've heard acupuncture can be v. good - the m/ws here havea service (one of them is a trained acupuncturist) but was not available for me recently due to them being too busy on the labouyr wards..

Poor you, sounds awful. I have had two appts with an osteo already and agree that it helps settle things. Just seemed to make sense when physio checked my abdominal muscles which are very very weak - so stengthening these would help. Yet another pg decision I can't make!

If it is any consolation k, I have had this for weeks too and have managed to keep it from getting worse by doing really simple things like rest (when I can!), keeping knees together getting into car/bed, pillow between my knees when sleeping, sitting down to get dressed......
Hope your appointments go well x

Hi

I had SPD develop around 18 weeks with my first pregnancy and could hardly walk for a while, went to physio, followed excercises and religiously kept my legs together when sitting(I have bad habit of sitting with legs crossed indian style or with one foot under the bum). And just slowed down, no more running for trains or trying to do too much in a day. After following physio advice I went from walking like old lady who had poo'd herself to walking fairly normally albeit slowly. I would definitely recommend the physio, doesn't make it better I don't think but definitely manages it. Didn't find anything to work for night time though, any advice for that would be useful as I'm currently 19 weeks and worried it might come back.
