need some advice

last night I started having back pains.They feel like someone is stabbing me and twisting it in the base of my back. they have carried on. sometimes they come every five minutes and sometimes they have half an hour gaps between them. I rung the labour ward and they told me to take a couple of paracetomal and go to bed.
Has anyone felt these backpains? Am i starting to go ino labour? I'm due on tuesday.

the "stabbing" nature of the pain sounds a bit like the sciatic pain I had in late pregnancy in my hip. it reappeared with a vengeance in my first labour.
