I was in the same position as you! Very uncomfortable.

Can you buy canestan cream over the counter? If you know of a pharmacy that's open now, then go there and try and buy canestan treatment.

I got the treatment just before I went into labour, and my baby didn't catch it.

see whoever you can first, you just need a prescription.if you are in labour before you get the medicine, the baby will just be given some medicine too - its not serious.

Best of Luck!!

I had thrush late in my pregnancy (about 39 weeks), and my midwife prescribed normal canestan pessaries, which were fine (although be careful putting them in, as I definitely felt one pinge on my cervix, and my contractions started that night, baby born next day....). Probably unrelated, and all was absolutely fine with no sign of thrush after the birth for me or ds. HTH

I thought you could buy canestan over the counter in the UK?

You can, but it's about £12, and so cheaper on prescription, that's all. And I wanted to check with midwife that it was ok to use etc.
