Anyway I think you all who dont have the morning sickness are really lucky.I think no one wants to suffer with it.Be happy about it.

emmaij - my friend had no sickness second time an dhad heaklthy boy. dont worry

x
Nope never had any morning sickness with DS. In fact the only troubles I had were a few headaches, heartburn and swollen hands and feet (and that was all in the 2nd - 3rd trimester)

This time around, I have had nausea - fortunately has passed now. You are lucky!!

in my first pg i felt very nauseous for the first 3 months, only actually sick a few times but felt constantly queasy. DS was 12 days late, 8lb11.

this time, i had no nausea which did freak me out a bit, but i did have the same exhausted tiredness and constant hunger (for anything stodgy and carb-loaded) at the beginning. now 32 weeks and all fine!

as my midwife said - every pregnancy is different, and as long as you feel fine and have no other warning signs then you just need to trust your body and go with it!

Hey Peachy,

I hope you don't mind me asking if your baby was conceived naturally (and hearty congrats, btw). I'm 41 and desperate...

Thanx

I had no morning sickness at all with DS - and as my first pregnancy ended in MMS, I would have been grateful for it! This time round, I did get sickness, but it was about a week and a half of constant nausea, which stopped at 8.5 weeks, followed by 8 weeks of on and off mild nausea. And it is another boy, which scuppers my theory of girls=ms! So there really are no hard and fast rules.

No sickness with DD or DS. Both totally normal pregnancies (apart from being 4 and 5 weeks early..)

No morning sickness in my three pregnancies. One DS, one mmc at 12 weeks and one ongoing (seven months).

Hi I'm new t this site. I didn't have morning sickness with my first three pregnancys, all boys. I am now 8 weeks pregnant with 4th and have suffered really badly this time, until the last few days and it seems to have subsided but now I am convinced that somthing sinister has happened. I have already had a scan at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat, will be having my dating scan on the 3rd july. Does anyone think I should be worried?
Just to add - two healthy boys in this house and I never felt sick when I was pregnant. Don't worry - be thankful!

Thank heavens I found this thread - 7 weeks and not a hint of MS yet. I too have been really worried that this = weak pregnancy.
Thanks ladies x

I'm 19 weeks & have had no morning sickness at all - have been diagnosed during this pregnancy with diabetes, interestingly they told me that low blood sugar contributes to morning sickness and as I've been having a problem with high blood sugar then thats why I haven't been feeling sick at all... so not actually a sign of something wrong or the sex of the baby! so if people ARE feeling the MS woes they should reach for some glucose-releasing carbs like bread if they can get it down, or something sugary like icecream or even fresh orange juice (which has so much natural sugar that I'm not allowed any :-( ) and it should really help stop the sickness

Never had it with my pregnancies... not even the faintest nausea
no morning sickness with my DD. I had MS with my pregnancy last year but sadly ended in miscarriage. having the same symptoms at the moment, but pregnancy still hasn't been confirmed yet.

This is the first time I've logged on to anything like a forum and thought I try and put my mind at rest. I'm between 8-10 weeks pregnant (dates indicate 10 but the sonographer at my early scan a few weeks a go said no way!) I've been bleeding for about three weeks now and am bricking it! This is my first pregnancy and I have no symptoms other than the lack of period and pink line that appears on the many many many tests I do every few days...paranoid or what!

I'm off work at the moment and felt a bit of a skiver until I saw the doctor had put 'threatened miscarriage' as the reason I was off.

I'm really worried I'll go for my 12 (or14) week scan in a few weeks and there'll be nothing there!
No morning sickness at all with my first pregnancy and he came out nearly 10lbs of healthy baby boy. I had mild nausea with second pregnancy (ended in an MC as 12 weeks) and third pregnancy (produced my second son) and more nausea with fourth pregnancy (ended in an MC - baby had died at 6 weeks but I'd felt sick up to 12 weeks) and the worst so far with this pregnancy (13 weeks so far).

I've always had a bit of a beef against people who say 'sickness indicates a healthy pregnancy'. Bollocks! Everyone reacts to pregnancy hormones in their own way.

Hello, I didn't have any sickness at all. My mother said neither did she. I was a bit worried at the time, but as someone above has said a huge number of pregnant women don't (I heart 25% get none and more get almost none). Also, older women can get less sickness (I'm 41 myself) which is why they thought it had something to do with a higher rate of miscarriage when in fact this was connected to the maternal age factor (hey, I'm not a doctor, just a googlehead).

I'm 24 weeks now and all is healthy. Wishing you lots of happiness in your pregnancy.

I had nausea with my first pregnancy (girl) and again with my second (which ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks). With this one - which is so far healthy at 10 weeks - I've had no sickness at all. Which is why I was so shocked to find out at my early scan that there really is a baby with a heartbeat in there!
jealous of the no morning sickness, have had it with last pg and currently. just want to be able to eat normally!
I am 10 weeks and have had nothing like morning sickness. However, neithr did my mother with either me or my brother (which may or may not mean anything!) Boobs bigger, a bit tireder, eating a bit more and sometimes irritable but that's it. Hopefully we're just very lucky. Had a scan at 8+3 and didn't believe it as I was so sure there would be nothing there and was really nervous. Stomach still completely flat too. Fingers crossed for 12 week scan!
I had no MS with DS1.
With this pg I've had moments of nausea but never been sick. I had flu last week and my pg symptoms disappeared but now I'm feeling a bit better they seem to have returned so fingers crossed.
Hope all goes well for you emmaij

emmaij, I had no morning sickness or early symptoms with my dd, it was a very easy and healthy pregnancy. My mum was the same. She was sick all the time with my sister so it doesn't matter about gender.

emmaij, as everyone has said, don't worry, just consider yourself lucky. Lots of people go through pregnancy without any bad symptoms at all. I had a friend who didn't know she was pregnant until she was almost 4 months in and although her son was premature he was perfectly healthy and is now 13 years old and driving her crazy! I on the other hand puked my guts up 5 times a day for 4 months both last time and this time. Not something I would wish on anyone.

I never had any cravings etc either (or tiredness) and people thought I was very odd. I thought they were all mad for asking! My only symptom was fatness. Curses.

emmajj, I'm 11 weeks and although I do plenty of heaving, I know that I'm never going to be sick, I just can't stop myself gagging. Even the thought of my toothbrush makes me start!! Don't know whether that makes me a sickie or not though.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Sat 15-Jun-02 15:47:49
oh, Enid, no, you haven't made me worry. Maybe, if yours had been the only message! But seems, as you say, that there is a huge range of pregnancy symptoms.

thanks everyone.

When I was pg I never felt sick at all - and had a perfectly normal pregnancy and healthy baby !!
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Sat 15-Jun-02 13:35:09
emmaij - I had absolutely no sickness with either pregnancy, both girls. I think it's a good sign that you've got to ten weeks and agree that if you feel pregnant in other ways then you're probably fine.
I say this because my midwives all said they trusted my instincts when I was pregnant. I'd miscarried twice before and was 39 when I got pregnant with my eldest dd. That pregnancy finished up with pre-eclampsia and an early induction so when I was pregnant again at 40 I was a bit scared!
But during all the talk about my age, scans and previous pregnancies the midwife kept asking me how I actually felt and when I thought about it I really did feel that everything would be okay in the end. She said that was 'worth a hundred scans'.

I'm a born worrier, though and I found it hard sometimes to differentiate between my instincts and my fears...

I really hope I haven't made you worry emmaij - I just thought I'd mention my experience, but reading all the other posts its clear that there is a huge range of pregnancy sickness symptoms - if you are really concerned ask your midwife for an early scan - they won't mind especially as you've had a miscarriage in the past. I did and it was really reassuring.

I'm another - no sickness with either pregnancy (boy and girl).
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 22:18:44
Emmaij, I didn't suffer morning sickness with my boys but was quite nauseas with DD (3rd child). I was told that it is more likely if you're carrying a girl but you get more tired carrying boys (they don't get any easier as they grow up - you get tired running round after men and get sick with worry over girls!)

Bad morning sickness is supposed to be a good sign that your pregnancy hormones have really kicked in but as long as you still feel pregnant in other ways I really shouldn't worry. In another couple of weeks the midwife should be able to hear the baby's heartbeat with a sonicaid which will be reassuring, then there's the scan to look forward to. At least you are past the date when things went wrong last time which is a good sign.

Fionn I can go one better - I never went into labour with ds1 - despite 3 days of inducing, so in the end I had a c-section - had to get him out somehow as he was 2 weeks overdue. Second time around - again no labour, so straight to c-section. So I'm obviously too posh to push

No morning sickness with either of mine, and both were extremely healthy.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 21:09:59
Java, I also had the easiest labours imaginable and thought what's all the fuss about? then had a nightmare time breastfeeding both, the bit I'd naively thought couldn't be anything other than straightforward. So you can't have everything!

Me too Fionn. No morning sickness, no cravings no aversions, plenty of spicy food and two healthy boys - but mine were both late.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 20:57:09
I didn't have the slightest feeling of sickness in either of my pregnancies. I also didn't have any cravings or any food aversions and continued with the odd cooked breakfast, tea, coffee and the odd drink. I had two very healthy boys, 8 days and 12 days early. Don't worry!
The 50-50 statistic is interesting as I've never met another woman who had no sickness whatsoever!

Thank you everyone so much. Seems there's no hard and fast rule about this one.

Only Enid's message of slight concern. You see my first pregnancy I carried to term -a beautiful baby girl- and felt pretty sick for the first 12 weeks or so. Second time I got pregnant there was no sickness and I miscarried at 7 weeks. Now this time -the third time- no sickness.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 19:27:58
I had severe sickness with my first, third and fourth, but nothing with my second, who was perfectly healthy. I didn't know I was pg with him until I was 10wks, though my SIL did! Weird.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 19:14:59
I think there's really only a cause for concern when you have had nausea in a previous pregnancy. I suffered badly with dd, then in the pregnancy that ended in miscarriage I had no nausea whatsoever. This time round (23 weeks into normal pregnancy) I also had bad nausea. My doctor said that when he heard that a pregnant woman (who had previously suffered with morning sickness) had no sickness, 'alarm bells rang'.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 18:39:29
I had no sickness whatsoever, not even a twinge of nausea and a very healthy son who weighed 8lb8oz at two weeks early.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 17:25:43
I have also heard the same thing. Not having sickness is no different then having it. You can have a healthy baby either way. Many do and do not have it and some have barely any. Everyones different I guess. Your actually lucky that you dont have it so far. Good Luck and Congratulations!
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 17:07:21
Apparently the official ratio of sick vs non-sick pregnant women is 50-50. Which hardly makes it the compulsory early pregnancy experience we are encouraged to expect. I had mild nausea throughout my pregnancy but I know lots of others who had nothing.

I think sometimes lack of morning sickness, plus lack of breast tenderness, plus lack of fatigue, can suggest that all is not well. Also, if you have some/all of these symptoms, and then they cease before 12-13 weeks (when they generally clear up), that can be a cause for concern.

Are you a good sailor/traveller, Emmaij? You are apparently less likely to have morning sickness if that is so.

I am sure all is well but if you have not done so and want professional reassurance, see if your GP/midwife can refer you for an early scan.
I had a boy and a girl...
I do know some GPs who say it's a sign that your hormones are kicking in - it is particularely reassuring to women who have had a miscarriage.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 16:46:15
emmaij - I had no morning sickness at all, and as I thought that every pregnant woman got some amount of morning sickness, I didn't find out I was pg until 10 weeks! Perfectly healthy baby, and incidentally bluebear, a girl!
I think the professionals sometimes say 'it's the sign of a healthy pregnancy' to make those who do get it feel better, but it's a bit irresponsible as it can worry unnecesarirly (sp? can you tell it's a friday! )those who don't get any.
I have never been sick in either pregnancy - don't worry
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 16:40:29
Not pregnant at the moment but with last 'healthy' pregnancy didn't have morning sickness until 11 weeks... then it went on until I went into labour. At least 3 of my close friends have had pregnancys with absolutely no morning sickness, all had healthy babies, actually they all had girls!
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Fri 14-Jun-02 16:37:39
I'm 10 weeks pregnant and have had no morning sickness. Someone told me that morning sickness was a sign of a very healthy pregnancy.

Any other pregnant mums out there NOT feeling sick?
