Reduced movement for at least a week

So I had reduced movement around a week ago, rang midwife and she told me that because I'm only 22 weeks that there isn't an issue and she's not concerned at all.

Shall I take her advice and not be concerned??

It does seem very early to report reduced movement. It's likely just that baby has changed position as there's so much space at this point.

I didn't start feeling movement until 22 weeks.

At 22 weeks I wouldn't really even expect a pattern but it's not my baby so you don't have to listen to me!

I think regular movements are only to be used as a benchmark much later, but I can't remember what stage.

My midwife said 25 weeks, I've been feeling movement for 4 & he's had a pretty steady pattern since.

It should be fine, as monitoring movements usually kick in (pun intended!) around 28 weeks or before for higher risk.

I downloaded an app called count the kicks. Really helped me monitor each day so I knew what was normal for me.

I'm not sure I even felt regular movements at 22 weeks, so it is a bit early I think. This early on there are lots of places to hide in there Grin

Congratulations though! Hope it all goes well x

You wouldn't expect a distinct pattern at this point. The other issue is that even if you have reduced movement, you haven't yet reached the point of viability, so there isn't actually anything that anyone could do. I am 26 weeks and still have a very variable pattern - some days are more than others, but at your stage I could go a couple of days without feeling anything.

Are you sure you've felt movement? It can be hard to tell this early.

No mistaking it's the baby, it's a distinct kick.

I'm not surprised to be fair, I've size 9 feet, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes out with size 5's!

Me & my body talk a lot, I know what's what and when all because I've IBS Hmm

I was worried at that stage too. It's my third pregnancy and I first felt him move at 15 weeks. I have an anterior placenta and he obviously moved to somewhere where I couldn't feel him. I'm now 34 weeks, they can't monitor you until 28 weeks. Try not to worry xxx

I thought it was 24 weeks given that that's when the cut off for a termination is??

I's 23 weeks and have been feeling movement since about 17 weeks, it's my second pregnancy so I'm certain on what I'm feeling. The pattern is still really variable, some days it's really really quiet and some days the movement feels almost constant. i spoke to the midwife earlier this weeks and she said it's perfectly normal at this stage and to only really start to look for a pattern after about 25 weeks.

In the nicest possible way, at this stage there isn't much anyone could do if there was a problem - the pregnancy still isn't technically viable. At my local hospital they will bring you in for monitoring after 27 weeks but not much before that. I went in a few times with DS (who was a lazy boy!) and they monitored me, but they wouldn't do that as early as this.

Keep an eye on it, that's what i'm doing, but don't be too worried. The baby might just be facing the other way for a few days.

Remember your womb will have grown more than your baby so far so is very feasible (and likely) that your baby has just moved somewhere else to make the most of all the room he/she has.
Later on in the pregnancy they don't have anywhere else to shift to as they're much bigger, hence you feel them all the time.
