Waters breaking or poor bladder control at 32 weeks???? One for lulumama maybe!

Bent over the bath last night to put plug in and there was a little gush - not sure whether some waters had gone, wet myslef or just have a rather heavy liquidy discharge (nice!) Not a huge amount but enough to seem like had wet myself a bit. Had some strong braxton hicks afterwards which stopped after an hour. Movements all fine. Haven't done anything about it yet...

Any thoughts?

and while at it - you'd think I'd know being on no.3 - but what are hind waters?

Thanks

this happened to me with my firs child. I thought I was having heavy discharge and mentioned it in passing to MW two or three days later at check-up (2 days before due date). Who then started clucking and wouldn't let me leave and it appeared my waters were leaking away a little bit. Not a huge prob but they said there was a risk of possible infection and I believed them...and ended up being induced (he really wasn't ready to come out).

I vowed that next time, I'd keep it to myself. Not sure how much risk of infection there is to baby if waters have 'gone', maybe just give midwife a ring tomorrow for some reassurance if this sensation carries on.

Good luck by the way when the time comes

If it smells sweet then it's your waters

did smell it and didn't smell like wee - but had just had loads of water to drink so could have been

It hasn't happened since so not sure what to do!

How would they know if it was your waters - would they scan you or is there some other way of knowing?

May go googling!

this happened to me,i stood up and felt as if i had wet myself (was only a bit though, not like a proper wee, iyswim) 18 hours later i gave birth to my ds!!

mw told me (during antenatal classes) to put a maternity pad on if anything happened and i wasnt sure, so that any other leaks could be checked at hospital, they could tell me whether or not it was my waters.

hth

doesnt sound very pleasant but, as soon as i went to the hospital th mw asked if my waters had gone so i said i didnt know, she asked if i'd put a pad on, said yes, she asked to look at it (nice!) took one look at it and said. yep its your waters.

i have no idea how she could tell tbh!

i think it had a slight pink tinge to it, she didnt smell it!

i was having tummy ache, which is why i put the pad on went i wet myslf! i had a water infection as well though, so dont know if that made any difference

happened to me with twins at 35 weeks - small gush then nothing - nobody at hospital believed me- kept saying urine to each other despite me knowing it wasn't! but kept in anyway because they do that when it's twins. 3 days later gave birth and they mentioned in passing 2 days after that that my twin 1 fore water had broke but then she moved and stopped the flow - hence the hiatus!

My waters broke with no.2 but when got to hospital said they hadn't - I know they had because my bed and the towel on my seat in the car were wet and it wasn't wee. That was at about 2am then at 8.30 there was a big pop and big gush - thats when they said my waters had gone - still unsure what happened - think his head plugged the hole!

have ypu continued to leak? maybe put a pad on and take it to maternity ward see what they say? cant hurt?

i was expecting a big gush, which is why i said i didnt know whether or not my waters had broken because it really was only a little bit.

No just when leant over bath last night.

I have just googled it and did you know you can nuy maternity pads that change colour if your discharge is amniotic fluid - blimey!

Maybe should call in morning and ask. baby moving fine and no other symptoms - but if they have and is due to an infection then should really get myself checked out!

i agree, better to be safe than sorry! you are better checking and being sent away with them telling you it was just wee, than leaving it and then getting an infection!

hope everything else is ok. look after yoursef and keep us informed x

if it is a hindwater leak it will reseal and the waters repelenish

you've had excellent advice here, i would mention it at the next appt, unless it continues to leak, if baby is moving well and all feels well, you should be ok, but obviosuly if you feel you would like to be checked out for your own piece of mind, then by all means, please do ! they don;t just sniff your pad !! but wil examine you by using a speculum to have a good look if any fluid pooling , and there is a also a dipstick test

i had a hindwater leak the day before i went into labour , they are quite common

obviously any massive gush or bleeding must be checked out ASAP x

Exactly the same thing happened to me at 30wks. Woke up from a night shift and had a small gush and thought it was wee to start with. Ended up being admitted to hosp and staarted on antibiotics and steroids. They told me that it was hind waters and should heal...but they didnt (sad) Everytime I stood up or sneezed I had a little gush. I went into spontaneous labour at 32+4 weeks.

Have been in - all fine - monitored & checked cervix - phew! They were looking for waters 'pooling' but nothing about hind waters or resealing.

Thanks for your advice and support

Hi, ive had similar experience..im 36 wks almost 37 now but at 33 wks babys head droppd and then i noticed more and more that my knickers were wet/damp thruout the day, at first i thot cud i b peeing a bit but it DID smell sweet and fresh not like discharge even...so eventually at 33/34 wks i rang labor ward and asked, they told me i had2come in to check, they said my waters were intact and cervix was fine, its eased off a littl but i still notice a bit of leaking, I think mayb its just discharge - cervix getting ready???(this is my first baby)although at times there has been a slight redy brown tinge to it. Ive heard ur waters could come away bit by bit...or even dat the mucus plug could come away slowly????Anyone any ideas???I havent had a show or anything, they didnt check my waters again after that day, just checkd babys heart on monitor a few days later.
