Have I had a mc or are my dates REALLY wrong!

Hi all...

I went for my 12 week scan on Tuesday, we were very excited as everything seemed to be progressing nicely. Lots of strong symptoms, no blood loss and absolutely no cramping or pain. I had no reason to worry. When scanning my tummy the sonographer stated she needed to do an internal as she couldn't see anything... straight away I was worried as I believed I was around 9.5-11 weeks pregnant based on my positive pregnancy test 29th September and no period since 26th August.

When she scanned internally she stated that there were 2 formed yok sacs but no embryos and that to her this looked like a very early twin pregnancy, when I explained my dates she stated that there's a possibility that it's a non-viable twin pregnancy and that she needed to scan again in 8 days to see if anything had progressed... I'm not hopeful and have been so upset since as I cannot see how there will be anything there due to my dates. But how is it possible to have absolutely no symptoms of miscarriage in 7 weeks and still I have had no bleeding or cramps, every time I go to the loo I'm on edge... waiting for something to happen. I feel in limbo completely devastated. Has anyone experienced something similar? Still got 4 days until rescan... longest week ever xxx

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It sounds like a missed miscarriage where the embryo (or embryos) stop developing but the pregnancy continues. Eventually you would miscarry

I had one picked up at 8 weeks by an early scan. It was my 4th pregnancy. My 3rd ended in a miscarriage with bleeding etc and I'd had a feeling it wasn't going to work out but was blindsided by the second miscarriage as had normal symptoms etc.

Just brace yourself for the worst, a possible D&C etc but focus on trying again soon. Hopefully it will work out better next time. Take care of yourself.

With a date of a positive test end of September u must have been at least 3 weeks then which would make you at least 11 weeks now. It does indeed sound like a missed miscarriage often no cramping at all is a bad sign as you cramp when the uterus grows which is why everyone worrys in early pregnancy when they keep cramping but it's a very good sign. I'm so sorry your going through this x

Sorry your going through this hopefully your dates are wrong.

I started spotting when I should have been 10 weeks I had a scan which showed the pregnancy had not developed since 4 weeks. In that time I had no cramping or bleededing at all. So it does happen

The same happened to me. Went for a 12 week scan and there was a yolk sac and no embryo. They need the sac to grow to a certain size with no fetal pole/heartbeat before officially diagnosing it as a miscarriage. I went on to have a D&C at 14 weeks.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I had a missed miscarriage too only my baby stopped developing at 8 weeks. I was forced to miscarry naturally because it was Christmas and the hospital ran a skeleton staff. I finally passed my baby at 13 weeks. The only thing I can tell you is that the sonographer told me that sometimes your body catches up once your brain processes what has happened, which is what happened to me, and you start to bleed. All you can do now is wait for that scan. Nothing wrong with hoping either. But, if the scan in a weeks time reveals a mmc, don't let them fob you off with waiting any longer and ask for some medical intervention. I ended up with an infection because of how they left me. Good luck. Missed miscarriage is cruel.

I'm sorry but that sounds like a missed miscarriage, I lost my baby when he was around 6 weeks (discovered at 12 week scan) but he didn't leave my body till 16 weeks so 10 weeks with no miscarriage symptoms
