I'm not an expert, but I had some spotting with dd2 and she is fine. I am sure that it is ok and normal, but if you hang around, someone will come along and reassure you

I had spotting with this pregnancy. At 5 weeks - am now 26 weeks pregnant.

It doesn't always mean the worst.

I think you might be having an implantation bleed. Its when the fertilised egg wedges itself into the womb wall. It sometimes causes a little bleed. If however it goes on for a while I would get yourself checked out. I had heavy implantation bleed with DS1 and went to the doctor who sent me to hospital. I had a scan and everthing was fine, so please don't worry.

I had spotting at 4 weeks too - in fact I thought it was my period starting. Was so convinced of it that I didn't do a PG test for a few days and then only did a few days later when the spotting stopped. All was fine - had early scan at 7 weeks and they saw the heartbeat and everything.

Call the midwife / Doctor. I had some bleeding at 12 weeks but it turned out that I had rhesus negative blood and meant I needed anti D injection after any bleeds. I only found out about the blood group when I had the light bleeding investigated. It was fine though!

Hey there. Try not to worry. I had spotting for a week before I got my BFP at 4 weeks. Lots of people seem to have some spotting early on. If you are worried, go and see your GP and ask for a referral for an early scan. Try not to worry, I know that is easier said than done, take care of yourself.

DG - call your local EPU if you're worried. They can book you in directly for a scan to see what is going on.

I had spotting from week 5/6 onwards with ds - usually about twice a week, sometimes more, once I went a whole 3 WEEKS without a bleed. They diagnosed everything & anything!! My m/w said about 1/3 of women bleed in pregnancy (mostly in early pregnancy) and most of them are fine.
I also bled with dd in early pregnancy - but not as much/often. I was rather blase that time!! Apparently some of us have more 'sensitive' cervixs (what is the plural I wonder?)

I'd ask your doc to refer you for an early scan - the units are usually full of LOVELY sonographers who give you ltos of extra baby photos (having been to many!!) - or ring NHS Direct and they'll refer you/tell you where the nearest is. They are often drop-in sessions, so you can actualy self-refer, but it's worth getting there when they open.

Oh, and spend lots of time sitting down with your feet up and a cup of tea, just in case

HTH

xx

Berrie, I may be wrong, but I think that new guidelines state that Anti-D is uneccessary in very early pregnancy because the risk of foetal blood coming into contact with maternal blood is very, very low.

I am RH- and was not given Anti-D and was told that I wouldn't be before the 12th week of pregnancy.

thanks guys. i'll keep and eye on it and try to relax, and i'll go to the doctors tomorrow morning.

When i had DS my pregnancy was text book- no problems at all- but i feel worried about this one, and i don't know why, and this just makes it worse.

Ah possibly so,this was 3 1/2 years ago now and I did notice that second time round the anti d was put forward more as an option than a necessity. That would explain why though. Why no one explained it to me I don't know!

I think after you've had one baby you realise just what you went through and came out the other end of. I definatly remeber being anxious about doing it all safely again! I'm sure it'll be fine!

i just rang the doctors to ask if i could speak to a doctor and told the receptionist what the problem was- thought i could see if there was a way of getting some reassurance / early scan info. Receptionist said i'd have to go there, couldn't speak to one on the phone.

what is it with receptionists?!

Seriously, call your local Early Pregnancy Unit. You don't need to go to the doctor and all that they will do is to refer you to the EPU...

Thanks for putting my mind at rest yesterday guys- i haven't had any spotting since. I had some terrible pains, but it turned out to be wind

I suddenly stopped worrying in the afternoon, then got a strong feeling it's a girl I had the same feeling when i was pregnant with DS that he was a boy...but then my chances were 50/50

Glad to hear you stopped spotting Detentiongrrl . I started today and feel just like you did yesterday, terrorfied. MW has booked me an early scan for next Fri but there's not much I can do than wait and hope it stops. I have a strong feeling already that my beanie's a girl.
