heartbeat at 11 weeks

I have my booking appointment today. I am 11+2. I had a scan at 7+5 and was told it was twins. I am feeling increasingly anxious and I was wondering if the midwife will attempt to listen to the heartbeat today or will it be too early? Thanks.

Congratulations to you. The midwives don't tend to listen for fetal heartbeats until at least 16 weeks onwards. Mine didn't anyway.

Congrats!

I was told that the MW couldn't hear the heartbeat until 14 weeks

I think it depends on your frame.. and how slim you are..

Jess1996 - how exciting! what happened today? I was told that at an early scan you can see the heartbeat but not hear it.

Hi all, Thanks for your messages. My MW tried to hear the heartbeats, but couldn't. She said not to worry though as it is still very early. I won't be getting a scan for 3-4 weeks though. I'm feeling a bit down at the moment as I'm convinced something has gone wrong. I've not really changed shape and I thought I would've done with twins.

Try not to worry, I know that is easier said than done. I think we underestimate the rollercoaster our hormones take us through and 11 weeks is stil early for your shape to have changed much isn't it? think how little the babies still are, they still have plenty of room. I am trying to take my own advice, I have spotting today and my scan is booked for next Friday, it seems a very long time to wait. I hope all is ok.

MW heard hb with one of mine at 12weeks but it was so unusual she called in another mw to listen to it. She really hadn't expected to hear anything.
