Terrified of GTT

So I am really bad at blood tests, I faint, feel like I am going to poo myself, cold sweats and can't move limbs, I nearly ended up in A&E during it a while ago.
I have discovered that if I have some sugar (chocolate) while having the blood taken I don't pass out. This discovery is such a relief.
Now, today I went to get checked as I noticed reduced fetal movement, its the second time (I am anxious as had a miscarriage earlier in the year) they put me on a monitor (heart rate ok) then had a scan. The sonographer said baby was a little big but asked how bug was DD (3kg 900)so she said "oh well you just make big babies". She estimated this one is 2kg already at 31 + 4.
I was asked to go back to the ward to talk to Dr. Another 30min wait and a nurse comes in saying I have an appointment for GTT and I can go.
It left me totally anxious. I just can't think I can face this test without a panic attack plus I keep thinking if I hadn't gone up today by my own will they would not have given me this appointment. I have been crying the rest if the day.
Please don't shout at me DP has given me enough crap saying am not being rational.
So bearing all this in mind, would you go? Do you think is totally necessary?

Ive heard of people testing their blood sugar levels over a number of days instead of doing the gtt test. I believe this would be a finger prick test so i don't know if that would be any easier for you? I had an awful time with the gtt test last time, felt sick for about four days afterwards with very bad headaches so I will be asking for an alternative to it this pregnancy if I need to have it done

Oh I haven't heard of that possibility, I will ask the GP as I need to make an appointment with her too.
Thanks.

For my first pg I didn't have the gtt (long story) so instead did blood prick test over a number of weeks.
I am having it this time (on Thursday) and am trying not to panic Confused

Oh! Good luck!
My DP is now saying if I don't want to go he'll support me. I don't know what to do.

Call them back, explain exactly what you've said here and ask if you can do the tests over a few days.

Worst case scenario, could you manage the GTT if they gave you somewhere to lie down and you had your DP with you the whole time?

You need to weigh up the risks of undiagnosed GD to your baby against your discomfort getting the test.

I've had 2 GTT, and granted I don't mind blood tests but it really is fine. Far better to feel like you do for a few moments than risk your baby having complications as a result of GD or, very worst case scenario, passing away Sad I know of a lady who's baby died from GD, please don't risk it Flowers

My DD had a similar phobia (all needles). She often fainted. GP referred her for counselling and it has made a massive improvement. Perhaps you can get some help to address your fears OP.

Xuli that was the scenario when I nearly ended up in A&E and I left without the test. Wasn't pregnant then, can't remember what it was for.
Whatthe that is why I don't know what to do, if there weren't risks for the baby I wouldn't have it done.
chattygranny I won't have time for counseling before Wednesday.
I am genuinely so anxious about it.
